Been coming here since I was a Brock student when it was Called shawarma house. It is now called Shawarma zoom, with the same owner. The food quantity has decreased slightly, but so has everything today only the prices have gone up. I am glad to report the cost of food here has remained reasonable.
The place is ran by one guy and sometimes you may encounter his wife or young kids spending time with him. He is there day and night, and works hard 7 days a week. Super friendly guy and while times are hard, he tries his best. Much better than the chain shawarma's you can buy, and honestly whenever I return to St. Catharines I usually always pass in for one.
Owner is a nice dude, but his face look like he has worries. He is out here trying to earn an honest dollar, so his place is worth going for the quality of food and service that I would say he over delivers on.
10/10 from me. This spot looks a little hole in the wall, but that's what makes it good. I hope he always remains here, because I need my shawarma when I...
Read moreSecond time being here one time was for a late night bite but this time I wanted to see what was like dinner time. The food portions sizes are extremely small and when asking for abit more of garlic spread buddy shoots me a look like how can you be upset with the customer when he put possibly a tablespoon of garlic spread. Freezer just chilling in main dining area with freezer burnt foods and the tables are folding tables. Don’t know what happened but this place was not as run down as it was the first time I went there floors are trashed windows dirty like don’t know if this is a one man show but maybe hire someone to clean. I don’t normally shy away from building condition cause normally that means food is really good sometimes, this was no the case got a gyro and meat was hard fat chunks spit out a bunch of meat cause it was inedible. Defiantly won’t be back and hope they can turn it around with the warm weather coming and farms...
Read moreI had to try this place out after seeing a few of the negative reviews about price and portion size. I work 2 minutes away, had a big breakfast earlier, and was ready for a disaster :p.
I had the 9.99 combo, which is a chicken shwarma wrap, fries, and a drink. The chicken shwarma is 6.99 on it's own. To put that into perspective, it's cheaper than a big mac. I've had much larger shwarma wraps before, but at twice the price. The chicken shwarma was delicious, and I picked from very fresh toppings. I likely could have had a second wrap, but as soon as I saw that it was 6.99, I already knew I could likely eat 2.
My takeaways from this place are that the food is fresh, tastes great, portion to cost ratio makes this a cheaper option for a lunch, and it's clean inside (I dined in, which...
