Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in St. Catharines

My husband and I have been ordering from this location for years.

When it's busy they can mix things up at times but we've never complained or reported them, asked for a refund for missing items...

Last week, they were rude, the food was nearly inedible, it was missing items, and it wasn't busy at all.

Tonight, after paying and taking the order, we told the "supervisor" about last week's missing items, and asked her to double check that they weren't missing items this week (my husband pays for poutine, and i pay for white meat).

They reassure him that it was all there.

Get home, and both meals were disgusting.

My baked potato seemed to have been boiled as it was filled with water, soaking wet, and disintegrated when touched. At least they allowed me to have the breast I paid for.

My husband's chicken is dry and burned, there was no poutine (gravy or curds), and his fries were inedible. The fries were not only burned but had unidentifiable bits all fused together, one piece looked like a bone and really gross bits that looked like the scraps found in the bottom of a dirty fryer. (Did they pick this from the trash!?)

I dont know what we did to deserve this but this could not have been an accident.

I called in, and knowing this woman lied once I asked to speak to the manager but she woman again claimed to be the supervisor and I could talk to her.

I politely asked again to speak to the manager.

She asked why, I again asked to speak to the manager as politely as possible.

She got upset and said that if we messed up the order, I said yes, she cut me off to say she can handle that. I again asked for the manager.

I was given no reason why I could not speak to management and she got loud, so I cut her off and said I would just really prefer a manager or I will call the head office.

She loudly said to go ahead and call head office and slammed the phone down 90s style.

There are only three places we eat in St.Catharines and thanks to this evil hot head, we only have 2 places to eat now.

Would really like to know what we did so wrong.

I shared pics of the fries, they are scarey to say the least.

Update Why ask me to file a complaint if you have no intention of following up with me? This stores management doesn't want business and cares less about quality or customer care than the offending staff. Now that I know the chain doesn't care about stealing from their customers either, we won't be going to any store carrying...

The server was an accident waiting to happen and it did. Right from the get go there was a problem. I sat down and was looking at the menu when the server came up pushed my Menu up to see if I had utensils underneath the menu, I did not. After receiving our food my step mother discovered a big hair in her food by chewing on it. When we told the server he got huffy and start muttering under his breathe and stormed off to bring a new meal in a take out bag to replace it.

We finished our meals he came back to check on us. I asked for two take out containers, if they do anything for birthday, and about our pies that come with our promo meals, he again stormed off in huff like I was taking his pie away from him. We came from NS to celebrate our 7 year old daughters birthday witj family, we wanted a nice dinner out but could have got better food and service at McDonald's. When he brought the dessert he hit my step mother in the head with something so hard her eyes were watering and gave her a headache.

He displayed poor attitude throughout our interactions including while paying. When he brought the bill it had the spring rolls that we ordered for our appetizers. We told him when order it, CAA membership makes it complimentary. So he stormed off again to change the bill. "Everything good now?" As he hand me the bill, it was not as he took it off the bill but it was still on the debit machine. We had to wait another 20 mins before he came back to fix his mistake. When he took the machine to fix it my card was still in the machine, he took it out and threw it down on the table. He handed the machine back to me to process payment, needless to say he got...

I'm not reviewing the food because Swiss chalet is Swiss chalet I've been having it for over 30 years I know what I'm getting when I go to social when I'm reviewing is the great interaction with staff I had last night especially in the Niagara region where hospitality actually isn't in the atmosphere here quite the opposite actually. And with this ever-changing world everything online I ordered through their website the first time probably at least half my fault for not double checking the address of the restaurant assuming that since it had my postal code it would automatically route me to the one closest to me but I'd also like to share that blame with the AI because it sent my order to Sarnia which I think is kind of odd but nonetheless the staff could have treated me poorly they could have totally put it on me to go home and fix it myself but they didn't the manager and the lovely lady working the counter I'd like to say that I might have overheard is her daughter or a wonderful duo to deal with last night they never made me feel stupid and they immediately made all the necessary calls and interactions to reroute my order to that restaurant as I'd already paid with a gift card as well that might sound silly but to me it meant a lot. So I just want to say thank you for the wonderful interactions I had last night it was pleasant to have people treat me as important and not like one of a billion other people that could be their guest that day.
