Wimpy's Diner — Restaurant in St. Catharines

This location deserves NO stars from me. Food is mediocre at best and service is absolutely atrocious! Recently visited this location with with a group of cousins. Our drink order took 14 minutes to get to us. Then our food order took almost 30 minutes to get to us - during this time, our original server, nor the other 2 servers that were serving surrounding tables, came over to apologize for the wait or provide an explanation on the wait. We were about to tell them "forget it" when the food came out and still not everyone's food came out together. The order of fish and chips had a black hair fried into the fish batter. It immediately disgusted the rest of us. It took some more time to call another server over to show her. When we did, she picked up the plate and took it in. Did not apologize, did not ask if we wanted something else. She simply took the plate very nonchalantly as if this was a regular occurrence. Taken back by this lack of service, we addressed it with another server who informed us that there was a shift change, etc. Still no apology yet. We asked to speak to our original server and was informed that she left as her shift ended. We were shocked that we weren't notified by this or that someone else would be covering our table. We asked for boxes but soon realized that we didn't care to eat the food later as we expect the neglect in food preparation and service was probably passed on to -the rest of the meals as well. We asked to speak with the manager who happened to be our original server (whom they said left just moments before). Her attitude was terrible, her apology was followed by "but whatever" and eventually she said "you can leave if you want and I'll just pay the $150 bill, whatever" then rolled her eyes. The staff here are either poorly trained or they don't care about the customer. I will never return to this location and have filed a complaint against the 3 staff we interacted with at this location. It's not the servers' fault for the food issue, but the lack of customer service is their fault. I would still tip on good service, even if the food was bad or had hair in it but I'm glad I didn't feel obligated to tip any of them. They should've all stayed home that day if that was their...

I would like to say before i start that my waitress was extremely friendly and did her best considering she was the only one on the floor! Nowwww i used to absolutely adore whimpys. I decided to go out to dinner with my 2 children and husband for the first time in 3 years and thought im hitting whimpys! I ordered the special, 10oz steak with salad to start and mashed potatoes. Salad was soggy and warm, steak was burnt to a crisp, and mashed potatoes were ice cold. My son ordered a burger that had hair in it.... and my husband also got a steak asked for fries as a side and got cold potatoes like myself we asked and paid for a gravy that never even made it to the table.... i so soooo disappointed and wanted to leave immediately.. im sure the waitress knew how unsatisfied we were considering 2 plates of steak were left practically full and untouched.... i did still tip as waitress isnt responsible for how it was cooked. I did also notice the cook scratching his head while dinging the bell to let her know food was there as well as grabbing his shirt to air out his armpits where he was setting food for waitress to pick up. Such a shame considering the place is beautiful and the waitress...

Great place to eat - lots on the menu, good variety. Always a good meal. Great service. Can't say I've ever had a problem here, both with stay in or take out. Update - Aug 2024. Two of us felt ill after eating here. My food was slightly undercooked, and so I ate just a bit of it. Our table and another had to go up and ask for items, as we were waiting for service. I went up and advised my mother needed some water (as she was having a bit of a problem) and after being told she would provide her with a glass the waitress became busy with other tasks - so i had to go back up again and i got some from another waitress. Then she stopped by to ask where my party went, and after I advised I tried to ask for more got water but she just walked away, so went back up again and was provided by another waitress. Understandable that the waitress was busy, but I felt ignored. This place is usually pretty empty, I'm starting to wonder if they...
