We met a friend for her daughter’s hockey game and went to Cravings afterward. They sat us down at a table that had not been cleaned. Once others arrived, they came to take our order and we asked that they wipe the table down. They did - with a cloth, no spray, and didn’t clean one of the tables (we had a few together). We had to ask for more menus. We ordered relatively quickly. Drinks came out, and Pepsi tasted like the carbonation was almost finished. We waited a very long time for food; several tables were served before us. When the food did come, it was provided to people at the table 5-10 minutes apart. Two salads came out, ordered with chicken. The waiter told us twice the chicken was “in there” (it wasn’t), and the third time he went to get the chicken for the salads. Another two orders came out, both breakfast. One was fine, the other, pancakes, tasted off. They tasted like the oil it was cooked in was old, or had been used a few times for other things. At least 10 minutes later, the rest of the food came out - fries with chicken fingers, and fries with fish. The chicken fingers were very overcooked, and small. We had to ask for refills, and the coffee was completely forgotten about. We had to ask for napkins, and our food came out before any cutlery did.
As we went to pay, we explained how the pancakes tasted, and after stating we did not want to pay for them, they took them off of the bill, reluctantly.
It was very...
Read moreCravings is a friendly, casual and relaxed family restaurant in Stonewall. It is a popular place in town to enjoy lunch.
The menu features a variety of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and appetizers. Their portion sizes are always very generous and huge! I have tried their Spicy Taco Salad, Santa Fe and Greek Salad. They were tasty and filling, however I do wish the restaurant offered more vegetarian and gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions like myself, as the current choices are very limiting. The menu is very meat-heavy and all of the salads automatically have meat added so you have to specify no meat, for a vegetarian version. They do not offer any plant-based protein options, like tofu, to replace the meat. They do have a veggie burger and veggie wrap on the menu, however, do not offer a gluten-free bun or bread option and the veggie burger contains gluten. As a result, I have found it difficult to find something to eat on their menu.
The restaurant has a nice appearance and I enjoy the decor. The atmosphere is cozy, casual and relaxed. The staff have always been friendly and efficient and the service is fast.
My suggestion for Cravings would be to offer more options for those with dietary restrictions, like gluten-free and vegetarian choices, on their menu. I do enjoy their salad selections though, with some...
Read moreWe stopped here Saturday 24 Aug 2024, just before the noon hour, people at one table left as we walked in, one group sat at a table with chairs, we were directed to a booth, which we chuckled about as the seats were quite a distance from the table…our comment to each other… they are expecting us to eat lots. My husband wasn’t very hungry, so ordered a bowl of the day special soup, potato and bacon, it was the right temperature, a big bowl filled to the edge… he said it was very good. Meanwhile I had ordered a Canadian burger with just plain fries rather than the poutine which was listed as a combination. My plate when it arrived was nice and hot with loads of fries , the burger tasted very good. I managed to eat the burger and about half the fries… so I need to say the portions were definitely big. The place looked clean , the one waitress, was helpful, and kind… we had no complaints. And yes we needed to go to the entrance to pay at the counter… but so what? We were passing there on our way out! While we were seated two more groups came in and as we left more were arriving . We would recommend the restaurant, it’s likely not where you would take your high class friend, but we wanted a bite to eat and continue our journey, it definitely served...
