The Kiln Drive-In — Restaurant in Stonewall

A friend I work with told me to try The Kiln (since she is from Stonewall) since we would be passing through Stonewall to go visit friends in Balmoral on Saturday(our friends from Balmoral also told us The Kiln was good). So my daughters and I stopped to try it out. When we got there we were confused as to where we were supposed to go. An employee came out to deliver food to a car, and we asked her, but she just pointed to the window, but it was to hard to see the menu. Then my 4 year old had to go to the bathroom, I asked the employee where the bathroom was, but she said we can't use the bathroom, and then sent us to the back of the building (Why I have no idea). We had gotten the elk burger with kettle chips, also pickerel and fries.

The elk burger seems bland in a way, with very little toppings on the burger itself (it’s one of the more expensive burgers on the menu so was expecting a little more out of it)

Kettle chips were over cooked and very crunchy but still edible, the sauce that comes with the chips is absolutely amazing though.

Pickerel was fresh and exactly what you’d hope for in fish and chips, amazing breading on the fish also and cooked perfectly. Only downside is they advertise the pickerel meal as “fresh pickerel with lemon and tartar sauce, I was assuming it would be a homemade sauce but instead it was Kraft brand tartar sauce.

Service was polite and Knowledgable but getting our food was very slow. Took about 30 minutes.

Recently decided to give the kiln drive-in another chance as previous experiences have been poor.

Previous experiences involve calling ahead to place an order for pickup, only to arrive and them to just start preparing the food and making me wait a further length of time.

Most recent experience, while I applaud the staff for their approach and handling of covid-19 protocols, the length of time for a single poutine order exceeded 30 minutes which unfortunately led me to having to leave for work before I was able collect my food.
