Boar's Head Pub — Restaurant in Stratford

Came in around dinner time after a day kayaking around Stratford, relatively busy- poor layout of seating. No sign stating that you needed to wait for seating, or seat yourself. Took staff over 10 minutes to recognize us standing at the door. Finally found seating, waiter came over and took our drink order and asked if we were ready to order- we asked for a couple more minutes. We did not see another server for 30 minutes. Finally placed our order, potato skins, Cajun chicken burger and chicken club sandwich. Potato skins had absolutely zero flavour, and needed to be coated in salt and pepper to be consumed, the sour cream was the saving grace. Went to go to the washroom with one potato skin left on the plate, came back to realize waiter had taken the rest of the dish (the saving grace sour cream). Cajun chicken sandwich was the saltiest sandwich I’ve ever eaten, it was supposed to include spicy mayo, however it was hard to tell if this was even present as there was almost a full cup of coleslaw on top. My partner had the chicken club, this was essentially 1 chicken breast, cut into 8 pieces and had a total of 1 strip of bacon. After we managed to stomach as much of the lack luster food possible, we asked for a box to take the rest. The young waiter (our third of the night) said no problem, and then proceeded to walk by our table to talk to his buddies about his college program and how he wanted to get cut early from work to drink Milly Lites with the boys. We had to go and get our own box. This is a place I will never give business to again, and when people ask where in Stratford they should get a bite to eat, this will be the spot I tell...

Food was mediocre at best. Service well, you’re going to wait a while. I sent the chili back as it wasn’t good. Didn’t even taste like chili. After that, the server didn’t come back to offer more coffee, didn’t bring the bill, no offer of dessert. We waited a long time and when we realized nobody was going fo come back to our table, we went to the bar to get our bill. The chili was still on the bill. My husband mentioned that I hadn’t eaten the chili and had sent it back. The guy behind the bar looked at the bill and seemed confused, my husband repeated that I had sent it back. He still didn’t seem to either hear or understand. I repeated I did not eat the chili. The guy behind the bar said, what you didn’t get the chili? Then I said, no, the chili wasn’t good so I sent it back. My voice was a bit louder because apparently he was not able to hear clearly what my husband and I had said three times already. The guy behind the bar responded in a nasty tone, “relax, we’re not doing brain surgery here”. I was completely shocked that this employee felt he had the right to speak so completely rudely. This was a first for me. - I responded “Excuse me? Wow that was rude.” To which he responded, I could say the same thing to you. Wow. Professionalism and politeness has certainly taken a nose dive. I would rather eat from a pig’s trough than step foot inside that disgrace of an eating...

I ordered a meal for 2 for pick-up for my moms birthday dinner for 6:30 and arrived shortly after, paid and realized it was busy as it was wing night.. so wasn't worried that it was not quite ready. Waited for a bit longer and then at 7 the bartender asked when my order was for, I said 6:30. He immediately talked to the kitchen and had them make the order like yesterday as unfortunately the chit had been lost. He came out, apologized, offered me a free drink and asked if I was ok waiting 10-15 min. After being a server for 15yrs myself I said it's all good, I understand! The kitchen prepared my meal super quick and even wrote an apology on the box.. they ended up reimbursing me for the full order and were super apologetic... even through in a lb of wings! Hands down.. best service! Most people don't understand how a restaurant runs and how chaotic it can be taking care of everyone...and there will be mistakes.. but making it right is where the business survives or fails. I wasn't expecting that but a 10 stars in my books! Food was AMAZING!!! thanks...
