We begun our lovely trip to Sun Peaks going up the elevator at the Grand Hotel. As we prepared ourselves for the wonderful trip awaiting us, we noticed an ad posted on the elevator wall promoting the Morrisey’s restaurant and their fine dining deal for Saturday dinners. My daughter and I decided that we were going to spend our last night at the resort going to this supposed stunning restaurant. With high hopes, we finally arrived at the restaurant on Saturday night at around 6:30 pm (February 5) and were greeted at the front door by a man named Ryan, though greeted is an overstatement. Immediately after saying hello, Ryan told us that the wait was 30-45 minutes. Thus, we asked if we should wait outside or if there was a wait list. Basically, we were wondering what the process was for us to eventually be seated and understood that this was a busy night. With an ego higher than Mt. Everest, he frantically informed us that “they don’t chase people down” and that we should simply forget about it. He informed us in ways beyond disrespectful that there was indeed no wait list and that we should come back in an hour and see if our luck serves us better then. My daughter and I’s magical night was ruined not because of our denial in immediate seating as that was understandable, but merely due to the sheer attitude and inhumane actions of Ryan. His words and tone made us feel like animals for no given reason. We did not come back in an hour and do not recommend others to go there at all, but of course choosing to experience this absurd behaviour is...
Read moreThis place was a complete disappointment. There were 2 of us, and we were seated in the annex room, which is essentially a game room with harsh overhead lighting a pool table and pinball machines. This seating area should really only be used for large groups or families with children.....not for 2 adults on a date. They tried to seat 2 other couples in there during our dinner, and both walked out. About the meal: If you're planning on ordering the Root Vegetable Vindaloo, be forewarned that this is not a Vindaloo in any sense. It was not fiery red and not spicy at all! It was much more like a mild, yellow curry. The root vegetables were severely undercooked, and the only type of sauce they could offer to spice it up was Frank's hot sauce. Give me a break! The portion was also quite small. The only redeeming quality was that the basmati rice was at least cooked properly. My date ordred the Fish and Chips. It was one of the worst representations of the dish that I've ever seen. The fries were greasy and limp, the coleslaw a soggy mess, and the fish piece was very small and most likely came frozen from the Sysco foodservice truck. The entire meal was absolutely sub-par. I'm not sure if they can't do any better or that they simply don't care. I would not...
Read moreOne of the best nights I’ve ever had social wise, and I was with my parents! Upbeat and engaging trio of Irish bands took the stage, a local Irish feller did a jig in middle of the overflow crowd who couldn’t get a seat, and a profession Aussie rugby player (self-proclaimed) shared company and then he pretended he was McGregor and I was Diaz. Overall a great vibe where it felt like everybody in the joint was a local. They bring the true feel of what I picture a Pub back in Ireland would feel like.
As mentioned, my time at Morrisey’s beats out any establishment and time I’ve had before or since.
As for the the service, it was typical fight to the front to order drink/food. But organized orderly. They had a small selection of wine, but of course made up for that in other areas. Looked like a greasy food menu, but we had previously ate.... wish it had been here.
Morrisey’s has set a standard I have been...
