We booked this hotel room about a month in advance and were willing to spend more vs. other hotels due to our past experience at coast hotels. The whole experience at the hotel was anything but good, so all I can really do is rattle off the negatives and finish with what might be positive observations. A strike contrast to what others have offered, so unsure if there is new management or what.
1.) arrived in the A.M and told that checking probably won't even be available at the 3pm it usually is, excuses about staff not showing up
2.) get into room and immediately see how noisy it is, next to the elevator / stair I immediately called to see about another room. Fully booked up, cant move - then suggested we find another hotel that has an opening. That would require a managers approval whom wasn't available at the time
3.) Shower water pressure was poor, to the point that hair couldn't be thoroughly rinsed - excuse was...."well we have bad water here". so the front desk rep admits to how common it is.....so should this not be regular maintenance?
4.) over all condition / appearance of the room - sub par for all other coast hotels we've stayed at. We visited our friends at another hotel who were staying in Sunpeaks, boy at 1/3 the price per night - we were jealous!
5.) No bathrobes.......
6.) dirty glasses in the bathroom
7.) The soaps and shampoos are full sized bottles. Society has made me become paranoid but this seems like a health risk? who knows who has done what with those! Also comes across as a more expensive hotel....trying to save a buck....
8.) The bath toils look more like loin cloths. O.K. not that dramatic.... but they wont reach around a 36" waist without showing anything off. The quality feels as if they were donated from the local fitness club
9.) Front staff on departure - we all can't be good at customer service, but did anyone really interview these people and monitor their performance? I'm sure the staff are so tired of people expecting "breaks" or what have you with poor stays.... yes of course....it totally sucked.... and it wasn't brought onto by myself except for booking with you! at a restaurant when a waiter asks if everything was o.k. do you really think is appropriate to receive, eat and pay for burnt food?
10.) the room is far from updated and has no aesthetically pleasing traits.
about the only good thing that I saw from this hotel - was location to the base of the ski hill. unfortunately not worth the added downsides that the hotel has to offer. however this mountain base resort has the pleasure of being woken up at 1am by grooming machines with their back up warning beepers, and the additional way of being woken up with the sound of the chair lift in...
Read moreCheck in: First we were given keys to a room that housekeeping had not even begun to clean. Next we were given keys to a room which the keys would not open and we had to call the receptionist to come an open with a master key. Room: It was 32 degrees celcius inside the room and it was like an oven. One tiny pane could be opened but it was 34 outside. The lodge has no AC in the rooms...only in the hallways!! We had to ask reception for a fan and they got one that was tilted at 30 degrees angle. The coffee maker was broken and would not work. The stove top was heavily rusted and dirty. The bathtub enamel was chipped and the entire room was dirty and dusty. With the window pane open (the only way to breathe inside the oven), there was loud screaming and yelling from outside the lodge and we could not sleep...in any case we were sweating heavily all night. This lodge is only designed for winter weather. Check-out: Took unduly long with a great deal of confusion.
We have stayed at Sun Peaks at Pinnacle Lodge. What a contrast to Sundance: Excellent facilities, room and appliances versus 30 to 40 years old and non operating at Sundance. Great hot breakfast versus no breakfast at Sundance Free parking versus 24 a night at Sundance Great rooms with decks surrounded by trees versus stifling dirty rooms with no air or operable windows. Excellent service versus very poor quality service and untrained staff. Only plus:...
Read moreYou get great treatment if your from Australia if your from somewhere else your out of luck. I asked for a late check out and was told no. No problem I understand they are busy. While I asked the front desk a few other questions. Someone else came up and asked for a late check out from the other lady and she was like no problem. I did not say anything as I did not want to make a seen. I was then riding up the elevator with the other guest and her friend. They were talking about the front desk manager was from Australia and made sure they all got what they wanted. Early check ins, late check outs, room upgrades. She told her friend to never ask the front desk staff and just ask for the front desk manager. I went down and asked the nice older lady about why some people were allowed late check outs and others were not. She said they were really short staff and she was not allowed to give anyone late check outs. I asked her if I was Australian would it make a difference. She nervously laughed. I did not want to give her a hard time as she was nice to everyone no matter where they were from, so I did not push it. Loved the older lady that checked me out. Hotel location is great. Rooms needed a update 20 years ago. Not impressed that certain people treated better...
