Steakhouse at Sun Peaks Lodge — Restaurant in Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality

I dined at the Steak House with a group on Mar. 8th. Our group was large so we had staggered arrival times. When we arrived (5:15) the first part of our group was having their dinner orders taken. We were met with enthusiasm and drink orders were taken. Only one small salad was ordered as an appetizer. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, our dinners had not arrived so I asked what was happening. I was rudely dismissed saying it would be along shortly and this was a steakhouse. After more time, the waitress came by and apologized that she had not put our order in. More waiting and finally dinners came, except mine, do you think that was an oversight? I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for my meal, by that time everyone else at the table was finished. I was told my meal would be complimentary, small compensation, given I was in considerable pain and needed to take medication. I understand that staffing is an issue at these resorts and the staff were definitely working hard but there needs to be more consideration given to the customer. They had no trouble adding 18% gratuity to everyone's bill. The food by the...

We decided to eat in the Sun Peaks Lodge Steakhouse on our stop over to Whistler and ordered the bbq ribs and beef stroganoff which were excellent although too much and we asked to take home the left over ...

The waitress was really lovely and friendly and also the waiter ( didn’t catch his name ? Bald headed with accent ) who was friendly until after we paid the bill ( check in Canada ) and as we often do declined the gratuities on the card machine so we could tip the waitress personally....., then he came over and asked why we had declined to tip and followed on how rude it was not to tip the kitchen staff and waitress and that we should not go abroad or visit Canada !!!!!

We know how to tip and conduct ourselves abroad so certainly didn’t appreciate his comments..

We were totally “gobsmacked” ( speechless to everyone else ) that he could have the nerve to talk to use like that ....

I was on the point of tipping the young girl but my wife was so upset she insisted we left...

So sorry to the young girl as she did good ...

Unless this guy was the owner I think he’s keeping a good person...

Sadly, this is no longer our go to when visiting Sun Peaks. Tired of being sat near bar when reserving a table for two. I wish they would make changes to ensure that all seating, no matter the size, would have a chance at having the same ambiance. It gets tiring to hear the staff have loud communication at the bar area about who is taking what table and how many large parties they need to be ready for. It is distracting, I inviting and makes for a lack of ambiance. Every year we get seated here because it’s just the two of us, and I used to put up with it because of the outstnding food quality, but the last few years have not been the same. The meal tonight just cut the cord for me. Braised short ribs with winter vegetables should ALL be slow roasted! Not just the meat! Seriously - my turnips, carrots and brussel Sprouts were RAW. Not at all what I anticipate when ordering slow roasted braised boneless Short ribs with winter vegetables.

Bonus though… the wine selections are always the best...
