Worst Ever Experience. As soon as the restaurant owner got to know that we have Groupon Coupon for "Buffet - All you can eat", he told Indian Breads will be charged separately (2$ each). We were forced to buy Indian Bread OR eat just curries without bread. After talking to owner, he, without a reason in his head, quoted that "where is it mentioned that bread will be free", after such a silly reply, I said - where is it mentioned that even curry should be free. Buffet is buffet, and moreover Indian bread (Roti/Naan) are an integral part of an Indian meal. He was rude and man of no reason. We felt like victims. I would never ever go near that place.
This is not about money or a few extra dollars, but about facing unfair and unethical practices, and not able to do anything about it.
I wish this restaurant owner learns and changes this malpractice of corporate harassment. I am trying to escalate this matter to Groupon Management.
I also invite owner, if he has a sense of responsibility, to respond here in a manner that really answer my review, rather than pre-fabricated apology.
Edit after Owner Response and my reply to him - You did not even read my review, it seems. Your previous reply to another reviewer show your Double Standard very clearly. You say in that response that buffet bought through Groupon will not have Breads included, but if the same buffet is bought directly from you then Breads will be included. What kind of answer is that, and is that a fair practice? My question to you remains same - where is it written in your deal in Groupon that Breads are not included. You can not just do that. You will have to change this practice.
You are a hypocrite person. No point engaging into a dialogue with you.
And, it is not just me, but many other customers, complaining about the same issue.
Considering your pity state of mind - I think, I have to state that this is not first time in life that we went out for a buffet or an Indian meal. we know what is included and what is not. Stop...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I used to love this place at its previous location. However, since it has moved we have had many issues. The first time we decided to go, it was a thursday night. We checked the times online and it said it was open until 9:30. We get there at 9, and as we are walking towards the door, the staff cleaning up the front quickly turn off the "on" sign, and locked the door. We thought this was weird but assumed maybe they had circumstances causing them to close earlier that day? We decided to give it another try. This saturday we show up at 8:45. Being a weekend, we assume this is an ok time, as we know the staff well and are easy customers, and we checked on line and it said it was open until 9:30. WWe walk in the doors at 8:45 and check the sign out front that says they are open until 9:30. The server goes to seat my boyfriend and I, but then after talking to her co-worker turns to us and says, "sorry, we are closing in 45 minutes and we can't serve you in the restaurant. You can order take out if you'd like!" This seems kind of ridiculous to us as they are open for another 45 minutes, and we could have been out of there within that time frame for sure. We were very disapointed as we have been coming to Punje Spice for several years, and I feel as if the owners would be very disapointed to know that their staff was turning away customers 45 minutes before closing. We will unfortunately not be returning as it seems they don't want...
Read moreA big change in the food and service the last two times I’ve gone. The service is quite awful, you basically have to get up and ask for everything yourself. New servers seem confused about their job and are incapable of making simple substitutions or taking initiative. Never came by to check on us after bringing out the dishes. Sat for 20 minutes waiting for her to come back so we could get the leftovers packed but she never came. Finally, paying the bill took a good 10 minutes and the total changed by $6 halfway through without explanation? My friend is fairly certain he didn't get what he ordered but there's no way to tell as getting an itemized receipt was impossible. Also, I ordered the dish I've ordered for years but it has completely changed suddenly! :( I thought it was a one-off, there seemed to be absolutely no saltiness or sweetness and it tasted like squash. Tried again another time and it looked completely different, tasted like bland, iodized salt and lacked any creaminess. Asked for a soda water and they gave me a glass of flat club soda that had clearly been opened for a few days already—just say you don't have any. There must be new owners or something, which is too bad because this was my favourite spot for years. I no longer live in the area but would make the trip. Not worth the premium price...
