On Saturday, June 26th my friends and I went here to celebrate a birthday. There were 9 of us, so we knew we’d need two tables in order to follow the COVID guidelines. I arrived before everyone else to get our names on the list for two tables. As soon as I mentioned to the host that I needed two tables, she called the manager over to talk to me. He seemed very nervous that we had 9 people coming and said he wanted to seat us on different floors to follow COVID protocols. I requested we be put on the patio, and he said they don’t allow groups of 6 sit together outside, he couldn’t give me an explanation as to why. I said I’d go outside and call my friends to see what they wanted to do and that I’d be right back. Once I was outside security was following me trying to listen to my phone call. They were standing so close to me no matter how far away I tried to stand and made me feel so uncomfortable that I had to sit in my car to have a private conversation with my friends. Our group decided that we were happy with two tables on different floors and I went back inside to tell the host. The host didn’t want to seat me, so she called the manager over again and he again went into detail about how they needed to follow covid guidelines as they weren’t trying to lose their business license. I’m not sure why they kept going on about covid guidelines when I said multiple times that we were 100% okay with sitting separately. We’ve been in a pandemic for the last 15 months; we obviously know the rules and came in respectfully to eat dinner and celebrate a birthday. They hesitantly seated me downstairs and had a table upstairs for half of our group. Once my friends arrived, the manager came over with an attitude again to give us a lecture again about COVID guidelines and threatened us we have one chance to be here and if we did anything at all that broke the rules, we would be kicked out immediately. They had their staff follow us to the bathrooms and we felt like we had eyes on us the entire time, even though we did absolutely nothing wrong. We felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable, that the birthday girl who suffers from severe anxiety had to take her food to go because she was so overwhelmed and having anxiety over the entire situation, this ruined her birthday. Not once did we try to mingle between the two tables, not once did we give them any attitude or any reason to believe we were there to cause trouble. We did absolutely nothing to warrant the manager threatening us multiple times that we would be kicked out if we did something wrong. Why did he assume we were going to do something wrong? We’re all in our late 20s, we’re not 19 years old trying to get rowdy and be belligerent in a restaurant. Furthermore, when I arrived alone, he had no clue how old our group was so for him to instantly be rude to me just because of the amount of people we had coming, was extremely unprofessional. Once we were paying, we requested a manager come talk to us because we wanted an explanation as to why we were treated this way. We were told there was no manager on duty but one of the older servers came over to talk to us. Rather than come over to talk to us calmly talk about the situation and apologize, she came over with attitude and instantly was being rude to us about everything. She didn’t even care to hear us out, she was swearing and being extremely unprofessional, she honestly made the situation worse than the manager did. The food and our server were great, but every other staff member we talked to made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcomed. From my initial greeting with the host, the multiple conversations with the manager on duty, security following me to my car, the entire situation was very uncomfortable and...
Read moreWe were a party of 4 that was there on a Saturday night and was out at a table in front of the POS terminal.
We had the fish & chips (upgraded to Truffle/Parmesan fries for extra), Clubhouse with soup of the day, Pierogis and a Dill Pickle Cobb Salad to share. Also, plenty of cocktails.
Service: We had to ask for drinks a few times as I feel our table was forgotten. Everything but the salad (which we had to ask our server where it was about 5 minutes after we received all our food) came out quick. Food: Pierogis: Pretty good. Crispy outside and soft inside. Clubhouse: good sandwich and they use real turkey meat. The soup of the day was a creamy type soup with chicken pieces and overly salty. Fish&Chips: fish was very good. Light crisp batter and fish was fresh tasting. Parmesan truffle fries were a bust. They had the Parmesan and parsley garnish but there was no truffle. When we brought it to the attention of our waitress, a lady came out (I think she was a manager) came out and said that there was an aioli that was in the side. But she gave us truffle oil instead to put on our cold fries. We told her the aioli didn’t have truffle in it as it smelt like regular mayonnaise. She even smelt it and confirmed that it was. She offered to bring and brought out another side of the aioli. That was the same…mayonnaise. Salad: Just had a ranch dill type dressing. It was supposed to have a smoked cheese but we couldn’t taste any of that. Good portion and chicken was good on it.
When it was time to leave we got our bill but noticed that they charged us for extra aioli. (We had started to pay the bill but we cancelled the transaction). Although it was .75 cents the girl offered to bring out another side of it when the first one received didn’t have the “truffle” in it and the second one didn’t. Don’t think that they should’ve charged us for the extra aioli when we didn’t get the right one in the first place. I know it’s .75 cents but it’s the principal. However, what the waitress said is that she’s take $1.00 off the bill BUT, she actually punched in the original amount that we were going to pay with tip. She didn’t give us the opportunity to change the tip amount nor did we actually see that we were being charged less.
Please don’t charge your customers for extra charges unless they...
Read moreMy Girlfriend and I went to The Dublin Crossing Pub in Clayton Heights in Surrey, B.C. Canada. The Atmosphere was bright and beautiful inside, and we were both greeted with a friendly, Hello, as we passed by the area where this friendly bartender was working then. The pub was quite busy as they had the whole upstairs area reserved for a private function and the back of the pub was roped off as well as that whole area was reserved for a private party but no one was seated there yet.
So, we both looked around and found a booth table area that we could sit in, and upon moving the table i was able to squeeze into to a rather tight spot, but i made it more comfortable for the two of us to sit there by pushing the table away which gave us both more room to sit more comfortably in.
We were attended to right away by our friendly female server, but unfortunately we didn't get her name.
I ordered the chicken wings with honey and garlic sauce and water to drink, my friend ordered a desert, and she ordered a glass of water to drink too.
Every day of the week this pub has a daily special and on Monday's it's 1 lb of chicken wings with your choice of sauce.
Happy hour is everyday from 3-6pm.
After my friend and I were done eating we paid our bill and gave our friendly server a good tip because she was attentive, professional, friendly, and well natured too, to the two of us there, especially.
Then I drove back home and that was the finishing touch to our day out that day.
If you've never tried The Dublin Crossing Pub, I strongly suggest you should do so.
You owe it to yourselves to go out to a nice pub, and enjoy great food and of course the beer specials that they have each day in this pub too.
Thank...
