Our evening at the local Pub:
My boyfriend's aunt recommend the this pub while we were looking for somewhere to eat. Walking in were impressed and surprised with how nice the inside of pud was. Very clean and welcoming to eat at. The staff were kind and welcoming when we first walked in. Upon being seated where were given our menus and asked for our drink order; which was served a moment later. When we asked for a minute to read the menu over is when we began our miserable dinning experience. We moved to a newly opened booth table that was no more than arms length away from our original table after about 20 minutes of waiting for our server to return to take our order and refill our drink we began waiting for our appetizers and meals. About 1 hour past before a server returned to our table to hastily refill drinks before walking back to the other side of the pub and leaving us for another 30 minutes before returning with our appetizers. In those 30 minutes we had to approach another server to asking if the kitchen was backed up or something because we were getting very hungry. The appitizer were well portioned and delicious. (We had the sweet chili wings and deep fried pickles). Not long after our appitizer was served our main dish also showed up. [We think the kitchen missed our order] When we noticed the layer of congealed gravy in the gravy bowl we should have just stopped eating all together. The burger patty was overcooked and burnt on one side; the chicken Caesar wrap was more wrap and lettuce than chicken or Caesar; the steak was weirdly cooked (undercooked on one half, overcooked on the other. Weird, right?) and tough; the mashed potatoes, oh the mashed potatoes. I don't think we have ever tasted a worse mashed potato than that. The servers did check on us occasionally while we ate at least. Our server removed one of our dishes from our bill to make up for how bad some of the food was. And took away our plates. I would like to add that our other dishes, the taco salad and chicken souvlaki was pleasant to eat. Then came the bill time! The server attempted to split our bill not once, not twice, but four times before getting it correct. Not sure what cause a simple 3way split bill to go so wrong. While we were gather our things and preparing to leave we watched the patrions seated at our original table returning the food that was just served. Thus ended our time at the Guildford Station Pub.
While I would definitely recommend this pub as a place to hang out with friends and drink(5 stars for the drink selections), but if your looking for food, stick to the nachos because I don't think the chef is in the mood to make anything else. And especially don't ask for gravy for your fries, tastes about as gross as it looks folks. Worst gravy we...
Read moreI went tonight to eat and there was a bit of a wait which I was perfectly fine with. Fight nights are busy after all. What disturbed me was that an able bodied person with no permit was parked in the disability parking spot sitting in his car on his phone. I have a permit and the only other spots available were at the back of the lot. I informed the staff and asked them to handle it. The bouncer came outside, looked at the car and then went back inside without telling the driver he could not park there. He told me he didn't know whose car it was yet he knew, because I told him, that the driver of that car was sitting in the car. He was waiting for a to go order and felt that made it ok to take a spot reserved for persons with disabilities. The fact that the bouncer refused to do anything about it makes it seem like this business does not care about their customers with disabilities who actually need those spots.
In response to your reply:
99% of businesses will tell a person without a permit to move. You do have the right to ask a customer to respect those spots. You have a bouncer to make sure people follow the rules. You also have the ability to refuse service to someone parking there w/out a permit or to call the police. Instead nothing was done. I can name at least a dozen businesses in surrey alone that will tell those people to move their car. I am well aware of the rules regarding those spaces and Sparc BC, who make the rules, say businesses are responsible for enforcing parking on their property. The parking lot belongs to the pub, therefore you have all rights and a responsibility to instruct able bodied people to move their car out of disability spots if they do not have a permit. Instead I had to park at the very back of the lot and was told to wait outside in the cold for a table. And no, I would not have been physically able to walk the entire length of the parking lot to wait in my car and walk back again after already having to walk it once because an able bodied man was waiting for his to go order. I ended up having to leave because I could not handle being in the cold or the ridiculous amount of walking I was expected to do with multiple disabilities and injuries from a car...
Read moreI've been to this place a few times with a friend that lives locally. My first bad experience happened when 3 of us went for lunch. I had a soft drink with my meal and the server asked if I wanted a refill. I assumed it was free, as most places do when you are eating, but when I got the bill I was charged $16.00 for 2 glasses of soda. The bartender refused to take it off the bill saying "That's our policy!" Several months later, this last September, my friend told me that there was new owners and things were much better. A group of 4 of us went in for dinner/drinks and we were given raffle tickets. I asked what they were for and I was told that they were giving away tickets to a Canucks game. When it came time to do the draw they pulled a number that was not ours and nobody came up to claim the tickets. The person doing the draw, Marie, called the number a few times, went through the going once, twice three times, gone. The next ticket she drew was ours. I went up to claim the prize and was told "Sorry, the first person came and they are getting the tickets." After paying our bill I tried to speak to her about it and she got mad at me and told me to leave. I called and asked for a manager a few days later and after a week I was called back. The manager told me that there were similar issues with "Marie" and she would speak to the owners and see what they could do for me. It's now almost December and nobody has gotten back to me. #terriblecustomerservice UPDATE - So, we are now at the 6 month mark and I have yet to hear back from the owners, not even a comment on here, which I notice they frequently do. I'm told that "problematic Marie" still works there. I guess it's clear that she is more important to them than their customers. Kinda makes me sad as it was a convenient spot for our group to get together. Oh well, Edith and Arthur Pub are happy to...
