Coffee Monster — Restaurant in Surrey

PROS: They keep the place clean, there are barriers and outlets between each booth and its one of the only places in that area that actually offers seating (lots of other places have declined seating due to covid)

CONS: the two workers there (male and female) are not the warmest people...they don't look like they enjoy what they're doing and they are not the cheery & interactive baristas you would usually expect at a small business coffee shop. They only have one bathroom open (even when the whole shop is full and there is another bathroom available) and require you to use a community key that everyone else touches to access it. They don't allow any outside food or drink which is understandable but is kind of frustrating when they don't offer any other food besides cake and croissants so you're forced to starve or leave to eat and come back only to find your spot taken. They require a 1.5 hour time limit which is also understandable but frustrating when they choose to not enforce it on some days and let you stay for as long as you want but then choose to enforce it on other days and kick you out (even when it isn't busy). The payment machines also ask for a tip which I honestly don't mind because I like to give back and tip other but I find kind of out of line when the baristas are not kind nor doing any other service but making your drink and pressing a button to tell you to come pick it up. Message to Owner - I know this is an overall negative review and I'm not trying to take down your business or attack you. I am just simply stating my concerns and thoughts that I've kept to myself for quite sometime now. You have a great idea going and your shop is beautiful but please do something about some of the concerns I mentioned. Thank you and hope to come back...

This is a perfect coffee shop for students having a hard time studying at home. 80 to 90% of the customers here are also students studying, therefore you really get motivated to finish your work and to not slack. The vibe of the shop is very chill and relaxing too which really helps romanticize your study session and make it less draining or stressful. They have a poster of 1.5 hour limit for dine in but I don’t think it really matters, no employees has really called me out for staying for too long. The poster was just most likely from the pandemic and most of the students stays there for a long amount of hours. Although, don’t take advantage of the system try to still purchases drinks or pastries during your stay. The only problem I might only have with the store is the lack of options in terms of food. They have a great variety of drinks ranging from coffee, tea, juice, Italian sodas and other beverages. However, I wish there was just a bigger selection of foods. They mainly sell pastries and ice cream only and those are really not enough to feed a hungry stomach during those 5 hours of studying, and outside food or drinks are not really allowed so you’re left with no choice but to eat desserts and pastries. Although, overall this coffee shop is an excellent choice when you have loads of work you need to finish or just need that boost of motivation to study because libraries can get pretty boring and they close...

I was feeling some dessert after eating dinner and found this nearby establishment. I was happy to find that that my favourite strawberry shortcake was being sold. Unfortunately, my happiness turned to sadness almost instantaneously within my first bites of the cake. Simply, it is one of the worst that I ever had in my life. It is a disgrace to all strawberry shortcakes ...

How do I even explain the texture? I don't even know how... like imagine that there are three sponges ( used to clean dishes) filled with toothpaste in between the layers. Unappetizing and horrible. Do you even taste your cakes before selling them?

I normally do not express my dissatisfaction to this degree but I feel like I had to express my feelings for this establishment. You are better off spending your money elsewhere. I am frustrated and angry. The only reason why there are so many customers to begin with is because of the location and space.

I ultimately ended up throwing the cake away and 7 dollars. Simply a horrendous...
