I went for the first time a couple days ago, very busy place , I had come on the Victoria Day weekend and there was a wait list , so came back earlier morning the next day and got in fine. I found the food was great and a very reasonable plateful so to speak. The service was excellent, the kitchen took a while, like 20 min between ordering and food, so don't go in a rush on a busy day. Actually my main point is that I appreciate the "55 and over" reduced meal price on the half dozen fixed option menu they have for the price of a breakfast, lunch or supper meal...great idea ... It was certainly enough for a moderate appetite...
I also appreciate that they have gluten free pancakes ...
The coffee may cost a bit more than " Timmies" but they leave you a fresh, hot, insulated coffee " urn" to just refill your own coffee to your heart's content rather than trying to catch the waitresses eye.
An oat milk dairy alternative would be good, they just have cream or milk...
The booths are super comfy. It's a chain but the staff seem very organized and run more like a family restaurant in my books. They give the tables a good clean between clients.
August 2023 add'n I'd just add that your ave bill will definately be over 20 with a meal and a drink, for most of the menu. However, they have lower cost meals for " over 55." Which I had for this original review. Also I have since discovered they have early specials for any age before 9 a.m. Also on the way out I noticed a neon handwritten sign about " children eat free" but didn't get the details. I'll post the " before 9 a.m. " shirt menu and an updated general menu with the " over 55 " choices, a bit smaller but what would still be within a normal sized meal vs gargantuan portions
Overall I was very impressed for a restaurant offering traditional breakfast , lunch and supper. Opens nice and early , closes 8 pm ,...
Read moreWhen you decide to eat out it is usually because you're tired, you don't want to cook and/or you just want to enjoy a meal. Well I haven't eaten at iHop for almost 3 years and today I am reminded of why it's not my first pick of restaurants. iHop at White Rock is such a disappointment. We arrived just when the rush is ending yet our food took so long to arrive- 2 adults 2 kids. We thought eating out will be faster than going to the grocery store, cooking the food and eating it but it turns out eating in would be a far better choice than choosing iHop. The server was slow, not attentive and when the food arrived the quality was appalling. I'm not sure if it's this locations or all franchise but my experience from iHop in Richmond 10 to 20 years ago although not the best was much worse in this location. The sausages were dry and burnt, hash not fully cooked- toasted at the top and hardly cooked under and the pancake was not fully cooked. You can still taste the batter! I like to go to iHop for their pancake and at this moment I'd choose McDonald's pancake than iHop - International House of PANCAKE! I asked for over-medium eggs and they still gave over-easy. I was so hungry I didn't bother to tell them. Also, the top dividers of the booths were super dusty. I don't know the quality of the washroom because I didn't stay long enough to find out. At this point, living in South Rock, when choosing a breakfast spot, despite the inflation and increase in food prices, I'd rather pay the extra $5 per meal at White Spot and get the quality of food and service than...
Read moreOrdered on uber eats. Food took about 50 minutes to arrive. Not too bad from south surrey to north surrey. When we opened up our bag, one entire meal was missing. I tried to contact uber eats to report it, but no luck. I then contacted the store. I asked for the manager who took the call, her name was Sharon. I explained the situation and Sharon offered to make the missing food for me to pick up. I explained to het that I lived 30 minutes away and this was not an option. I asked that the whole order be refunded as my partner had to share his meal and therefore didn't get to enjoy the meal he ordered. She asked to put me on hold. When she came back, she said that she spoke with the person that packed the bag and she said she had packed everything, insinuating that I was lying. I called her out on this accusation at which time Sharon started backpeddling.
She then said the owner would call me (I think she said Scott and that he was in San Francisco), but then started talking about someone named Heather who would call me on Wednesday to discuss further. It is now Wednesday evening and still no call from the owner or Heather.
I dont usually post negative reviews and try to handle things with staff/management if there is a problem, but when they don't bother calling and you can't reach them when you call the restaurant back, what are you supposed to do?
Technically, isn't this considered theft??? They took my money and didn't provide a service/product that I paid for and are...
