Went here on April 29, an hour before closing time. Its shares the same building as the Old Surrey Restaurant, but is located on the ground/basement floor. Its kind of an interesting place. The decor is quite nice, need I say upscale than other Mexican restaurants. Music can be a little loud. It looks like a nice place to take a date on, or hang out with some friends in the evening. Definitely a place for drinks, which might explain why the menu is quite limited. There really was not much to choose from outside of a couple enchilada dishes, soft shell tacos, a quesadilla and torta. Note, the quesadilla is priced at $19.75? My partner and I were wondering if they have to share the kitchen with the Old Surrey Restaurant or that their kitchen facilities are limited, which makes for the small options. Anyways, from their limited menu, I had the green chicken enchiladas and my partner had the red chicken enchiladas. My daughter had the tortilla soup. The green sauce for the enchiladas was good with a little kick of heat. I am guessing the green are from tomatillos to make up the sauce. I did the chicken inside the enchiladas was quite dry. It looked to be mostly white meat that I can see, which probably lends itself to being slightly overcooked. The dish was sprinkled with cheese and had a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. I tried my partner's red enchiladas. You can tell the difference in flavor between the two enchiladas. Since I am more familiar with the red sauce, I thought it was comparable with other local Mexican restaurants. Tasty overall, but the chicken was also dry in the enchiladas. I didn't try the tortilla soup, but my daughter said she liked it and enjoyed the tortillas on top of the soup. Service was good, with the our server being pleasant. My partner and I did think it was strange though that he seemed quite disappointed when we passed on dessert. To be honest, were we supposed to have a churro for dessert? Also, thought it was strange that our server mentioned that he had a small child, then seemed to ask several times if we wanted an alcoholic beverage. Maybe I would be under a breathalyzer test but I would think the first "No Thank You" would be sufficient. I guess they have to push the alcohol in this place. Food was tasty and our service was fine. Prices seem a little on the high-side, which is fine since the restaurant industry has had it tough due to the pandemic. I like a limited menu, but thought the choices were too limited (check their website to confirm) and could use a few more items. Overall, it was good.

It was my first time here and the food was about all that was good. We came on a Saturday evening so we expected it to be busy but I was appalled at how bad the customer service was. We walked in the door and stood at the front entrance for 30+ minutes without someone coming to greet us, take our name, and let us know how long the wait would be. There were a few other people standing there waiting and they told us they’d been standing at the front for over an hour and not a single staff member had spoken to them…. I was starting to get fed up and almost left but thankfully we were finally seated. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. It took over 15 minutes for someone to bring us water. After 20 minutes the drinks we ordered finally came. I’m not sure what the bartender was doing but he seemed to be cleaning and standing around staring into space instead of making our drinks. The pineapple and mango margaritas were decent but nothing special. After about 30 minutes our food arrived. We ordered the “El Trio” to start. It was bigger than I expected, as it should be because it was expensive. I had the chicken quesadilla as my main and it was a good size and flavourful. My partner had the birria tacos and they were also yummy. The caramel filled churro was delicious and definitely a highlight! I wouldn’t consider this authentic Mexican food, though. It was more upscale and Canadian-ized. I would still rather cross the border to the USA and get some actual authentic Mexican food. If you come here, definitely make a reservation beforehand and be prepared for a pricey meal. You’re paying for the quality of food and not the service in my experience. I might give it another try but I’m also not sold on it.

Our first time to this much talked about fairly new (5 mths) authentic Mexican restaurant in the lower level of the Old Surrey Restaurant, Surrey. We were greeted and served by owner Paola, who is welcoming, hospitable and lovely. You would never know you’re in a semi-below street level space as it is surprisingly bright and beautifully designed. There are nicely spaced tables with a large bar using back lighting to highlight the stunning array of bottled beverages- alcoholic and non-alcohol. We ordered from the Summer Specials Menu: Chicken (or Beef) Fajitas- rice ($3.50) and 4 soft corn tortillas (or 1 large flour tortilla) $2 extra. This was definitely the star 🌟 of the night- absolutely delicious. The tortillas are a nice addition, rice isn’t necessary as it’s quite a filling meal. Also, the Chicken (or Vegetarian) Enmoladas in Mole $23.95. Everything was delicious and the in-house made Tortilla Chips & Chunky Salsa (gratis) are a nice starter. The menu isn’t too large, yet offers everything you’d want. I have a feeling everything they offer is done well and deliciously authentic. We were mid-meal and already planning a return trip for an upcoming birthday, can’t wait! It’s nice to have Salsa and Guacamole so close to home without having to go to New Westminister for our mexican fix 🇲🇽. HIGHLY RECOMMEND 🤤 !! Ample parking on the west side of the restaurant.

First visit: Beautiful atmosphere, amazing service, and delicious food. Best tacos and churros we've had, and their guacamole was a great add on. We wouldn't ask for better, will definitely be back with more people.

Second visit: came with family for lunch. After a good first visit I wanted to bring them. We arrived at 12pm and the place was empty. We weren't told that a 12 party pre-ordered, and we ordered before they'd arrived so we assumed we'd get our food first. We waited an hour for our food because of it, with no communication. We & a table that arrived after us were brought mediocre chips & salsa at 12:30 as compensation for the wait. We were THEN told 5 more minutes for our food, because of the party. It took over 30 mins more and they avoided us until the food came out. We finally got our food after 1pm. The table beside us paid & left with their food to go, before us, even though we arrived & ordered before them. My family's food was lukewarm when it arrived sadly. We received no quality check either, and it was obvious our server was avoiding us so we couldnt tell them. We ended up going to the bar to get our bill & pay so we could leave. I was so embarrassed i invited my family there that i paid the whole bill so they wouldnt feel like they wasted their money. We will not be back after this. No discount on the bill, or even a dessert option after the major delay, incorrect time frames, no quality check, cold food, etc. As someone who has worked in hospitality for 10+ years I was not...
