Read moreWe went looking at the lovely pics and decent reviews. For such a beautifully designed space, we were sooo disappointed on multiple fronts. Firstly, the food was highly disappointing. So expensive, and just so bad. Everything, from our drinks, to the snacks, the main, was just not good! Also, dishes have been marked vegan on the menu, but when asked, the staff informs us that it has egg. Then why have vegan signs! It’s highly misleading! Half our party was vegetarian and could not have anything other than samosa and pakora. We didn’t travel 30 mins to go have this! Secondly, this was more upsetting- we entered at 7:45pm, the staff told us the kitchen closes in 15 mins so we ordered right away. I get my main at 8:20, in a take away box, as the restaurant is closing in 10 mins. We were literally thrown out. If you need 35 mins to make a French toast, then how is it fair that I have to stand outside the restaurant and eat my dinner! The management should sort this out! Either do not take any orders an hour before closing, or pay the staff 30 mins extra so they can close properly instead of throwing customers out. All of us had to get boxes as we couldn’t rush with the food. I also work in retail, both as a business owner and an employee, so I am aware of the issues. It will help the management in the long run to just pay the staff for a bit more time, instead of losing customers. We are definitely not...

Simran at Verandah is an outstanding host who welcomes you to her cafe for authentic Indian street food. She delights in offering her take on traditional food and new creations from her home and her heart. She is passionate about offering something different to the normal North American Indian restaurant offerings. I have visited from early summer 2018 to tonight! Every creation I have tasted has amazed me in its uniqueness and newness while being buoyed up by consistent quality and subtlety. When I tried her Samosa salad, my mind recalled memories of something I had enjoyed before - Chaat! When I mentioned this she said: “Exactly, it is my take on Chaat”. Well, this is Chaat at a whole new level. So superior 👏. Every meal has been a thrill. Simran has also suggested meals not on the menu which she cooked that evening for her family - stupendous!
If you want the run of the mill curry or mass produced Indian food, then this cafe will be unable to meet that want. However, if you want food that makes love to your taste buds through its fragrance and flavours, then Verandah will exceed your expectations, excite you and have you coming back for more!
And you will be greeted warmly and served with...
