Ok. A&W is always delicious and this location is no different. Depending on what you order, you may have to wait quite a while for your food but this is to be expected at A&W anywhere in Windsor, in my experience. Where I feel this location is lacking is in the quality of staff. We went through today and the person taking our order argued with us that the drink we were ordering was not something they had. It was on their menu and my husband ordered one and received one yesterday. She then paused for a couple minutes and came back and added it to the order. We waited quite a while for our food and drinks and the drink was not what we had ordered. We went through again, at which point, another employee apologized and clarified that the first person we had dealt with was new. The correct drink was given to us. I believe that a) staff should know what is on the menu before taking orders, and b) that someone should have taken over when the employee began to argue about the availability of the drink. Just placing our order took forever and was a stressful experience. I feel that staff need to be properly trained and have some idea of what they are doing before being assigned to drive-thru. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted. I ordered a Mama Burger on July 31 and found blue mold growing on the bun after eating some of it. When I pointed it out, the staff member agreed to make me a new one — but then grabbed another bun from the exact same batch. I told him I didn’t want bread anymore and asked for lettuce instead.
What happened next was even worse: he handled the lettuce with his bare hands — no gloves, no handwashing, no sanitizing. This is a clear health and safety violation, and it raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and standards at this location. The mold wasn’t subtle either — it was a large, blue, obvious patch, suggesting the bread had been expired for quite some time. That night, I got extremely sick and felt unwell.
A&W markets their food as “fresh and quality”, but this experience clearly proves otherwise. The handling practices and food conditions were anything but fresh or safe.
A&W used to be my go-to for fast food, but after this, I’m seriously reconsidering. I’m posting this not just out of frustration, but out of concern for public safety. As for my family we have celiacs in my family so the option to have lettuce wraps and gluten free fries is nice. Other chains do not offer that. As for my ratings of food being 5 star and service being 3 star and atmosphere 3 star. Service is usually pretty fast but I find when we order there are 4 of us in the family we get 2 lettuce wraps and 2 regular burgers they have missed our fries on numerous occasions more than 3 times. Make sure you check your bag. I also called once to tell them and they said I could get a free one next time. Then when I went back another day to get the free fires with another order they told me no and basically said they didn't believe me. So after arguing with them for a while they finally gave in..
