Delicious Pho 17th Street — Restaurant in The Meadows

Food is delicious but customer service from this one middle aged man serving us was terrible, hence the deduction of the stars.

Came here tonight with my family and this guy made eye contact with my sisters from the outside as we came in but as soon as we got inside? Well he straight up ignored us for a few mins, didn't even look in our direction. He was not busy whatsoever (only 2 tables were occupied), not even looking at the till that might indicate he's taking Skip orders, just on his phone probably and the only time he looked up was when my sister asked for a table for 5. No greeting, no smile and this guy just looked like he didn't want to be there the whole time, it was ridiculous. Even asking for things like water and sauces, he couldn't even say "Okay", he just walked away. I was absolutely baffled, especially since I've had my share of working in a job that involves customer service in the food industry.

It was literally only after this waiter left the vicinity that there was a younger gentleman who was so kind when handling the till. There was no tip option so we gathered our cash together to give to them because the food was delicious despite the service we received and this young gentleman was even refusing the tip that my sister gathered as she put it in the tip jar. I'm hoping him and the kitchen get the tips and not the other guy. As we were leaving, this older lady came from the kitchen with a big smile on her face as she was about to gather the dirty dishes from the other tables saying "Thank you" as we expressed our thanks with how delicious the food was. Those two were so kind, I wonder what brought that other guy in, my goodness, it was hard to eat dealing with someone so rude when we ask for the bare minimum service like what.

Hoping to come back here someday again and also hoping that middle aged guy doesn't work there anymore LOL

The food is really good here aside from the typical MSG soup but the amount of meat is really good in the pho. Sometimes it's a hit or miss and I would like to see more consistently. The vermicelli is amazing and I will come back here for it every time. Customer service isn't for your average Karen. I've seen these reviews and it's an Asian restaurtant not your typical average Karen place alright? Could it use some more professionalism, sometimes yes. Most of the time the servers are off doing their own thing and you go pay your bill up front by the till. Sure their English isn't very good but just giving them the number or pointing at the menu is good enough. The restaurant is very self serve and focuses on the soup as you can see the set up on the tables. Every time I come here the place is sadly dead and mostly skip drivers are coming in. Took our daughters here to celebrate end of the school year. Very quiet Wednesday evening. Upon arrival we were given 2 menus for 4 of us. The lone server came twice to take our order but we were still looking at our menus. Once ordered, food arrived very promptly and tasted excellent! We ordered water with our meal, had to go up and ask for it again after we'd begun our delicious food. After waiting for a while after finishing I had to again go up to the cash and ask for take away containers and the bill, like our waters the containers were almost tossed onto our table. We managed to get out 2 large soups into the containers with chopsticks we waited for the bill... after a few minutes I sent my family to the car, cleared out own table and again went to the cash to pay. I told the server the food was excellent his service was borderline insulting. Might eat here again because the food was good, I'll never dine there again because well unbelievably...
