It's nice to see that Thompson finally has an alternative QSR (that's "quick service restaurant" for all you non-food service nerds out there) to McDonald's and A&W. So how do they stack up against the competition? To start with, their burgers are comparable to Burger King, in that they offer more topping quantity versus the Golden Arches. The chicken burger definitely tasted better than the Chubby Chicken...the only down side was that the fries were cold. For pricing...yeah, the clown place is less expensive, but it could be argued that you get what you pay for, but compared to the bear place, DQ was cheaper. For service...this is Thompson, so it's very difficult to find any location that actually focuses on quality customer service. Let's just say that they actually acknowledged my existence, which is more than I can say about their neighbouring competition. For flavour and taste... it's fast food, let's be reasonable. The meals were as expected from a corporate location. If you are looking for an alternative to the other locations, you won't be disappointed with a decision to eat here. Special note of interest: they still offer plastic straws for their drinks. I know I shouldn't be happy about this, but try drinking a pop through a soggy paper straw...yeah, I...
Read moreA couple months ago I visited this location for the first time; I ordered a blizzard and not only did it take forever to receive the order the fullness level was lacking. It seemed like there was not enough of the mix-ins, which really disappointed me since I was looking forward to that perfect blend of ice cream and toppings. Instead, I encountered more plain vanilla ice cream than the mix-ins I anticipated
I recently visited this Dairy Queen and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory again ,the issue was the customer service, which left much to be desired. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, making the ordering process frustrating. It took longer than expected to be acknowledged, and when I finally placed my order, there was a noticeable lack of enthusiasm from the team.
To make matters worse, the food itself did not meet the usual Dairy Queen standards. The items I received tasted off, had a hair in the fries as well as a distinct flavor of bad oil that seemed to have been used in the deep fryer for too long. This made the meal quite unappetizing, and I found myself unable to finish it.
I was also completely turned off by the restaurant after seeing the unclean kitchen through the counter ; it was a major red...
Read moreOn opening day of the Thompson site I had what was probably the best fast food burger I have ever had. The counter staff was dressed in a DQ t-shirt and a pair of pyjama pants. There is nothing that says slovenly like wearing pyjama pants in a customer service roll. This was not the worst part of my DQ visit. After a month in business I went to DQ for a burger and onion rings tonight. The Swiss mushroom grill burger I had tonight was terrible. The burger texture was mushy and it was tasteless. The mushrooms were grossly over cooked and slimy. My box order of onion rings contained several pieces that were cold, dried up and hard. It looked like the cook was scrounging around the kitchen floor for a few more rings to fill the box. The rest of the rings were greasy and undercooked in oil that was either not hot enough or needed to be changed. People got along fine without DQ in Thompson for many years. I won’t miss this caliber of food...
