I've been a regular at this coffee and pastry shop for quite some time, going there every day before work. My daily visits were always a highlight of my morning routine, thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated, and I feel compelled to share it with others.
On this particular morning, I walked into the shop as usual, expecting the warm smiles and friendly greetings that I had become accustomed to. To my surprise, this middle-aged woman, whom I had never seen before, was behind the counter. From the very beginning, her demeanor was cold and unfriendly, which immediately set a negative tone for my visit.
As a regular customer, I felt that her behavior was not only unwarranted but also entirely unprofessional. When I tried to engage in a polite conversation and place my order, she responded curtly and seemed disinterested in providing any level of customer service. Her actions were a stark contrast to the service I had come to expect from this establishment.
I couldn't help but wonder if she was having a bad day, but her continuous cold and dismissive attitude towards me and others waiting in line suggested otherwise. It was abundantly clear that she lacked the basic courtesy and customer service skills that I had come to associate with this coffee and pastry shop.
What makes this experience even more disappointing is that I had recommended this establishment to numerous friends and even fellow restaurant owners in the area. I had always spoken highly of the exceptional service and delicious pastries, but I now find myself regretting those recommendations.
To the owner or manager, if you happen to read this review, I implore you to consider the impact that your behavior has on your customers and the reputation of your business. Your rude and dismissive attitude has completely overshadowed the excellent service provided by your dedicated staff.
I sincerely hope that this review serves as a wake-up call and a reminder that it's the customers who support your business and keep it thriving. My daily visits to your coffee and pastry shop used to be a source of joy and comfort, but after this encounter, I'm left with a sense of disappointment and frustration.
I hope that future customers do not have to endure the same rude treatment that I experienced. Until I see a significant improvement in the service and attitude of the staff, especially this middle-aged woman, I will have to reconsider my loyalty to this establishment and explore other options in the area.
In conclusion, my long-standing loyalty to this coffee and pastry shop has been tarnished and I will now make it my duty to let my vast connections of restaurateurs know that this place is to be avoided at all costs.
Edit: Her response was as expected. But also unexpected, because everything she replied with is just baiting sexism. I could have made up some intricate lie about racism too. It's sad that someone this age is going this route. I was met by rude behaviour by another customer. I called her an idiot because she is one, not because she was a woman. Don't pull that card on me. If the customer was a man, I would have called him an idiot too. I've been to this bakery over 50 times. I have yet to see her once. That goes to show the level of care for detail she has over her location by not being present. The damage is done. PS: the other employees I usually see on a daily basis are lovely people, sad that they have to work for someone that is so...
Read moreI don’t know if it was because it was the end of the day at 4:20 in the afternoon, but the croissant had zero crunch to it. It wasn’t flaky. It was very squishy + spongy like something that’s been absorbing moisture? I’ve had croissants plenty of times and they’ve usually very flaky, crunchy and it’s very enjoyable to eat, but this is just felt like a spongy ( like the grocery store croissants you find in a container all clumped together). The first four bites didn’t even have the Dulce the cream but then suddenly it in the middle there’s a huge glob of dulce de Leche in the middle … Doesn’t really make sense ..the placement you should be able to taste it evenly throughout the pastry. $7.14 for a single croissant is not cheap, I expect nearly perfect croissant at this price point. Not impressed in the slightest .. for the rating it did not match up. First experience.. and disappointing :(
To reply to Olga, it seems like you have a justification for everything and I’ve gotten croissants at other cafes and it doesn’t become spongy.. for 7 dollars you are not doing a good job at storage.. this is definitely not high quality as you think it .. seems like you have a hard time taking criticism .. and seem defensive when people aren’t happy with your product which doesn’t reflect well on your customer service . I don’t even think you are familiar with customer service at this point.. just checked other reviews telling you the same thing regarding spongey mediocre croissant and you got defensive again. You are not making any effort to make it up to your customer.. there is obviously some ego issue here unfortunately.
I think that your products are subpar… you’re filled with excuses and have no sense of customer service with a huge ego! Get off your high horse.. the quality is not there and you can say whatever you feel to help you sleep at night to avoid the fact that your product isn’t the best and is on the decline and others are calling your croissants sponge and it’s giving grocery store quality at best. I have no seen one comment where you can accept graciously that your product isn’t good and offer to...
Read moreUpdate - Reply to Olga: I literally was there buying pastries in person and trying not to spit over the exposed pastries on the upper deck as were other customers as we were making orders that noon. There was no cover hence the review. I don’t understand why you would gaslight me - a customer , who bought and loved your pastries and pointed out a hygiene flaw that could easily be fixed and acknowledged. If your staff forgot to cover the pastries that’s one thing but gaslighting is not necessary. Minus two stars. Attached is a photo from your own business Instagram showing that there is no upper cover on the top deck of the pastry case. So as people stand and talk over to the staff their heads towering above the pastry case in height - the pastries on the upper deck are exposed to the particles exiting their mouths. Just because the case has front glass doesn’t stop exposure from the top as people communicate across the case. I’m very disappointed in the way this is being handled and won’t be coming back. —-
Distillery resident here. The croissants and pastries are absolutely delicious, nothing to say there. HoWEVER , and this is a dealbreaker for me. You should not have pastries laying exposed on the top (above the pastry cabinet) between the customers and the staff. As customers are communicating with the staff about their order people are spitting right on the pastries in the tray that are then being sold at a premium price. I felt so awkward trying to order over - exposed food. Please do something about this because as is I don’t think I’ll be coming in to buy from here if I see people trying to order over unsold food. Hygiene is a big thing, especially so post covid. No one wants peoples spit particles on...
