Hello A&W,
I'm writing to voice my frustration with your mobile app. I attempted to order twice this week, a Toronto Maple Leafs Teen Burger and Onion Ring Combo (for $5).
The first time I tried it, (approx 6pm) it mentioned that there was a low amount of food product at this location, or something similar to that. I went in and spoke with the manager, showed him the notification from you and he couldn't understand why that notice came up, since he had enough product to fulfil the order. I attempted numerous times, but the same notification came up. So I was out of luck that day.
A day or two later (approx 5pm), I received the same promotion and attempted to fill the order out front of my closest A&W at 665 Markham Road. When it took me to the "Select Location" page, I could not click on the "Order Here" button at 665 Markham Road. The "Order Here" was faded out. However, I could click on any other location below it. Again, I went inside and asked the server, and she couldn't understand why it wouldn't take me any further. I attempted a few more times, but with no luck. So a half an hour later, when I got home, I thought I'd try it one more time and it allowed me to click on the Order Here. Well, I wasn't going back out again just to have, potentially, the same issue again. Why it wouldn't allow me to place my order, right in front of the restaurant, is beyond me.

I recently visited this location on July 20, 2023 at around 2:00AM and had a rather disappointing experience. I placed an order for a couple of meals with specific instructions to include chipotle sauce on side. However, when I received my order, there was no chipotle sauce on side. When i drove back to the drive thru, it took me almost another 10-15 minutes to confront the employee.
When I pointed out the missing sauce and seasoning on onion rings to the employee, I was met with an argument rather than a sincere apology. The employee seemed defensive and refused to acknowledge their mistake and moreover, refused to tell her name. It was disheartening to see such a lack of customer service.
As a customer, I believe it's crucial for employees to pay attention to the details and follow customers' instructions to ensure a positive experience.
I would appreciate it if this store could take customer feedback seriously and work on improving their service. Simple mistakes happen, but it's how they are handled that truly matters. I hope that in the future, employees will be more attentive and receptive to customer requests.

Read moreI'm not one to complain, but my recent experience at the 655 Markham Road location has compelled me to voice my dissatisfaction. The issue may seem minor, but the way it was managed left a lasting negative impression on me.
During my visit, I presented a $2 off coupon from a 12-can box of A&W root beer. The coupon explicitly stated that it was valid at any location in Canada. However, an employee informed me that the Manager would not honor this coupon at this particular location. The absence of an apology or reasonable explanation made the situation even more frustrating. They even said that it would scan. Seems like the manager is telling their employees to refuse these coupons.
Furthermore, when we attempted to use a coupon from the A&W app, the staff again declined to honor it, instructing us to order online instead. It felt like an unnecessary hassle and raised concerns about this location actively discouraging the use of corporate discounts.
I'm fairly certain that refusing to accept a corporate-issued coupon goes against company policy, making this all the more disappointing. This experience isn't about the $2; it's about the principle and the unwelcoming manner in which the issue was dealt with.
