Grillies (Markham & Lawrence) — Restaurant in Toronto

Edited: Worst takeout related experience. I emailed and was told I’d have to remove my review in order to receive my refund. Anyone ordering here should know the truth so I’m leaving this here. I have literally never taken the time to write out a review for an establishment, but for this, I HAD to.

I decided to order from the Lawrence location. My total came to around $20 for the grilled killer and cheese fries.

The site wouldn’t let me order online, so I called. The man told me I can’t order over the phone so I tried the site again. It still didn’t work so I called back. After being passed around on the phone, the employee told me to walk in to order instead, which would mean waiting an extra 15 minutes. (Ordering ahead is clearly an option for a reason) He THEN proceeded to take my order over the phone after wasting all that time

There was a man preparing his own order in the kitchen with his jacket still on. I witnessed him cash a customer out and reach back for the bread shortly after without washing his hands. When I approached him regarding the matter he continued to explain that he’s only using “one hand” and that he’s not really doing anything in the kitchen. The chicken was straight up uncooked. I left the chicken from my fries in the bowl after biting into so many hard chunks and weird tasting pieces. I thought the burger would be better but that too, was uncooked. I brought the burger and whatever I had spit out back to the location for my refund, where the manager rudely contradicted my claims and refused to refund me. The service alone is enough to deter me from ever ordering here again, but the food being served, and the staff serving at this location seriously need to be reevaluated. Grillies restaurant is a hidden gem that I recently discovered, and I can't stop raving about it! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, Muskan and Reman. Their exceptional service truly elevated my dining experience.

The ambiance of Grillies is cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The menu is diverse, offering a range of options to satisfy any palate. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, there's something for everyone.

But what truly stood out was the impeccable service provided by Muskan and Reman. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and went the extra mile to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of amazing. Their recommendations were spot on, and they made sure that every detail of our meal was perfect.

I had the pleasure of trying their signature grilled dishes, and each one was a burst of flavors that left me craving for more. The presentation of the food was exquisite, and the quality was top-notch. Muskan and Reman were not only exceptional servers but also great ambassadors for the restaurant, making me feel like a valued guest.

I’m a regular at Grillies, I’m here a few times a month. I’ve had some not so great experiences here but overall, I keep coming back, the food is very decent.

My friends and I came for burgers and a burrito bowl to dine in the other day and the food didn’t come out together. The fries took an extra 10 minutes once our food arrived at the table, and by the time our fries showed up our burgers were kinda cold.

The food is good quality, prepared well (most of the time). Service kinda lacks, there used to be one awesome guy that worked here he was great with the service and always made sure the food was on point, we were even on a first name basis that’s how often I would come when he was working.

There seems to be a bunch of new hires and while everyone is very nice and polite, the attention to detail and good service is under par. Grilles is good and has the potential to be amazing, the quality is there but you need great service and sufficient culinary training to ensure all components of a meal are coming out together and on time.

Would also be nice if they salted their fries.

Also there is a big discrepancy between portion sizes when you dine in, compared taking it to-go. The burrito bowl is twice the size when...
