Worst service by a place I had come to since at least 2005, pho is pho as in its well made but the service was atrocious. I had the waitress demand I sit at a dirty table that someone had clearly already sat at, but it was partially organized and wiped down. I let that go because I had come to this CSIS location since I was about 16 years old nearly 20 years though sporadically. This waitress then repeatedly glower frowned at me, looked at me very aggressively and when I asked her if she would wipe down my table she came leaned over me, looked said it was perfectly fine and demanded i remain seated there. At this point I had enough of her attitude asked the other waitress to serve me - she told me please move where you want- and I finally asked if me being there bothered them. These are Vietnamese people I am not. And asked if it was somehow offensive or wrong for me to be there. This same waitress then talked about how it was close to closing time - I was seated by 8:58 PM for those that are military exactly at 20:58 - and then she started telling me they close at 9:30. The open sign was on, they seated me on a dirty table and my order came at about 9:00 PM. At this juncture I asked the other waitress to serve me but I also asked what the problem really was, why seat me if they were going to mistreat me - and that inkling are these people up to something insidious not simply racism or bad service, I am religious and I know to walk away when its that difficult for people to do their jobs - and then it seemed they all wanted me out of the premises even though both the chef and other waitress served me. This one was old, colored preying beige hair with a black hoodie with white stripes over the length of her arms sort of Adidas or reebok without being designer a off label. I after that had her invade my personal space and begin to get in my face simply for moving tables as the other waitress said. This person needs to be fired. I asked if she was the owner and they confirmed she wasn't. We have had our family business for 22+ years and served clients from across greater toronto and many international clients when they visited toronto. We worked day and night including until 1:00 AM or begin at 4:00 AM despite a 7 day work week. This isn't necessarily this businesses fault in terms of food but that was too much. Also I had multiple attempted murders on my life and in 2019 my brother Ajith was murdered, and since 2019 people everywhere i go from work, to business, to pray, to socialize and everything else kept attacking me. They thought I would be an easier target then my brother Ajith and it always starts off like this things that make no sense people deliberately attacking me in a very small way then layer by layer begin an argument that they pre planned attack, repeat and escalate. This to me was not a ransom thing it keeps happening and its a combination of people across race, location, class, ethnicity, and citizenship. Also my brother Ajiths Bungalow was about a 2 minute drive from here and I dont mean to force a linkage but these people are a connected network and work in sync. I am disappointed but not surprised I even told this place I am your regular customer and they didnt care. Imagine throwing about 20 years of a customer relationship especially at a place that is still cash only away, it was also clear I guessed correctly who some of the members of this network of places and people are by this sudden uncalled for behaviour. I came starving and now I regret the trip but thank God in Toronto you just have to go next door for food or service - which i did thanks Chick-Fiesta! - I also have serious health issues and needed to eat so thank God. But its not my loss its this business' especially in this economy ungrateful and violent people end up always getting that karma back. I haven't been here consistently since about 2017 and started going back in 2021, so I can't name the rest of the staff but most of the time things are okay and this first time I ate here since 2017. Prior to that I would dine...
Read moreMarkham branch! I’ve been coming back here many times because I really love the food. The only thing I didn’t like is that after we dinned in, we were already outside the store, the lady chased me and told me that I should give them a tip. That time I didn’t give a tip because our order was straightforward and not complicated. The servers didn’t do anything except just serve our very simple order, noodle soup, and that’s it. I was shocked, and just ended up giving a tip even though I didn’t have enough cash. I was really hungry and wanted to eat. Besides, I’m always coming back there with my husband to dine, and I give tip especially if I have extra cash. Do we really need to give tip every single time that we go to your store??? It was a turned off for me when this lady ran after me and said I should give them a tip. We dined in other restaurants too, and I have never encountered such trait from the servers like this lady. Some servers are thankful if given a tip, but they don’t run after the customer if they don’t receive any. The food was good. Only this lady server I don’t like. Please don’t chase the customers and tell them to give you a tip. Being observant, we know when servers deserve a tip or not! I kept coming back in this store because I love the food, but I stopped because of this lady server! The servers in other branch are not...
Read moreIt's very out-of-place, I never would have thought to go to this little plaza at Markham and Lawrence for pho...yet it is here.
First impression was ok; a cash only sign in a page protector taped on the front door, lots of communal seating, claims of being famous, barely adequate lighting. My party ordered the medium pho beef flank, I got the large pho rare beef and brisket, and we shared an order of spring rolls. The spring rolls weren't very impressive; they came out quick signaling they were precooked, the wrapper was more like Chinese spring rolls that lacks that flaky texture, and the Zippo g sauce lacked the vinegar needed to cut the grease of fried food.
The pho was much more impressive. The broth was good, even though I've had better but it was flavorful and rich. You definitely need to add the side condiments like the lime and Thai basil. A good amount of protein was present and there was enough noodles in my large bowl. It was very filling.
Total came up to $26. Honestly the pho alone would have been enough, we could have done without the spring rolls which were $7 and were disappointing. But the pho is decent enough at a good price point for...
