QUESTIONABLE HYGIENE AND DISGRUNTLED STAFF WITH ATTITUDE

WATCH CLOSELY TO FOOD SAFETY WHEN STAFF ARE MAKING YOUR FOOD!!!

I live in the neighbourhood so I frequently come to this location and the one near Bloor and Bathurst.

Food is always fine, perfectly cooked all the time. However, as a certified food handler, I have observed many times that the staff at this location were not paying enough attention on food safety. Most of the staff would admit and correct their mistakes and be at least open to the opinion

Jeslin, however, who I have seen working in night shifts before, is always the one who will not listen. Me and him got into some heated conversations twice due to his ignorance to food safety and attitudes. Once was back in Oct 27, 2020 and the latest episode was today (Apr 24, 2022).

Today, I went in at 7:30am for 2 Sausage and Egg Muffin combo. First I waited for at least 5 minutes, no one was aware that I was waiting. Then Jeslin finally came to take my order. Shockingly, he proceeded to fill my drinks and was about to prepare my food after he touching the Point-of-sale system WITHOUT WASHIING HIS HANDS THOROUGHLY WITH SOAP. This happened exactly the same as the episode in 2020. Then I asked nicely that he paid attention to food safety and most importantly, to wash his hand before touching any food related items. He then immediately turned into a different person, angry, disgruntled, in total denial. First, he claimed that the items that he touched with his unwashed hands was for Uber Eats but I did not see any Uber Deliverer nor orders shown. So he was lying that it wasn't for me. Then he started yelling at me saying it was my fault. While in total denial, he claimed that he had worked in A&W for 4 years so he would never be fired as he was friends with coworkers and managers. He claimed that he did not have an attitude and he never had one. He also threatened me that I could never come back to the store, and if I come, I would be refused services. The arguments lasted for about 10 minutes while there were other customers there, delaying their time to get their food. I did not trust Jeslin making my food, therefore I asked his nice, well-mannered coworker to make it instead.

In my opinion, Jeslin, who pays no attentions to food safety, who also could not handle any constructive criticism and always be in denial, should be immediately fired from this location due to the attitude. Last time, owner even told me about Jeslin's bad attitudes. I do not understand why they would still keep Jeslin around.

Some of the worst customer service skills I've experienced in a very long time. Why we stopped there...I have no clue. The people were RUDE. Some of the worst customer experience I've ever had! And ordered 2 mama bugers...1 as a combo with sprite just cheese and ketchup and another just burger with ketchup and cheese. 1 blt chicken burger combo with sprite, and 1 Nashville burger combo with sprite. First off we were charged for the just ketchup...even though the burger comes with ketcup. Secondly the sprites were flat...no carbonation. when we told the hostess she argued that thats what we paied for and that we cant get another...it took about 5/10 mins to get her to switch the drinks...on which when she did she didn't fill the cups and when i asked her to...she claimed NO... That's how the button is and she can't... The whole time she was being very rude. Only to reach my destination to feed my kids and she didnt give us one of the bugers...went back to have the situation rectified and her and the other person both refused to fix it. Ended up going to Wendy's instead. Sad spent such a long time waiting for my over priced food that doesn't even taste that great... To get rude and bad customer service skills. Spent...

Service is fine, cleanliness fine, sure it might be better than other locations…everything that people are listing is not overly important…the biggest take away is quality vs price, and in 2024 A&W prices are insane. It’s over $18 for an uncle burger combo. They hype is up, say it’s a 5 oz patty, grass fed this, organic it’s all BS. The truth is the patty is small and bland because they hire cooks who don’t know how to scramble an egg, the patties are dry, overcooked, unseasoned…everything you’d expect from fast food…but now in 2024 you’re paying $18 and change. For $18 to $24 you can go to an actual sit down restaurant and someone with experience can actually make you a burger that makes the uncle look like a week old buddy burger. So what’s the move? Don’t indulge. Save your money. Treat fast food as it should be, a last resort. Get something off the value menu and walk away. All fast food is pretty much the same, it’s crap…and now due to inflation, it’s expensive crap. To the people who say this was the best burger they’ve ever had, do some research on the smash burger scene in Toronto, they’re so many incredible burger...
