Follow @bredgyeats on IG for more food posts! These addicting and crispy chicken wings kickstarted the spicy adventure in this small African pop-up. The peanut suya dry rub has fully assimilated with the chicken, creating a deep, savoury, aromatic flavour that goes perfectly with the hot sauce, which is full of spicy, fresh chilis. I was licking my fingers clean after. Where Japanese miso meets African as a fragrant coconut rice that's topped with sesame is harmonized with a rich, peanut and miso-based stew that also happens to be vegan. The eggplant and chickpeas have absorbed the delicious, nutty sauce, while the young jackfruit gives every bite its texture, and is truly one of the best fusions I've tasted. A platter of never-ending bliss as it's literally a party in your mouth, both from the spicy and the smoky umami flavours on this plate. The peppered chicken is juicy and seasoned beautifully, while the tribe slaw cleanses the palate with its subtle creaminess. The fried plantains are crispy yet had a gooey, sweet interior, and everything is rounded out with jollof-style rice that is savoury and addicting.

Easter Sunday and away from home, I needed a place that felt....familiar. That paired with a quick search for the best food in Toronto led me here. For a small establishment it certainly did not disappoint! The moment I walked in, the music alone made it feel like home. What really stood out was the exceptional service — the bar staff/waiter (yes, one person handling it all) was an absolute powerhouse. She managed the entire front-of-house solo, juggling the bar, taking orders, running food, and still made time to check in with each table. Despite being a one-woman show, she remained calm, friendly, and incredibly efficient. Truly impressive. To add: Another staff member came in shortly before I left. As for the food — five stars, no question. Every item I order was bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. The jollof rice was perfectly spiced, the plantains were golden and savory and that chicken — BLESSED! Each bite felt like a celebration of West African cuisine. Highly recommended!

Popped in with my partner and ordered the Jollof with Chicken and Egusi mains and Fried Plantains for a starter. The food was good with healthy portion sizes. Of the dishes, the Fried Plantains taste a little bit simple and the Egusi, while good, was not nearly as flavourful as the other dishes. However, the Jollof was tremendous. Rich with different spices and a combination of flavours, the chicken was mouth watering and the coleslaw that came with it really balanced the heat. If you come here, you are doing it wrong if you do not order the Jollof as it is impeccable and a dish you won’t be able to find anywhere else in Toronto. The young woman serving was incredible, she was able to manage the entire restaurant - which was full - so easily, and made sure everyone’s wishes were being met. Super friendly, and was able to provide great recommendations. It’s a cozy, vibrant restaurant that everyone should try to pop into if they’re in the Parkdale area.

I'm sure the food is great but 1 star because I never got to try it. My bestie wanted me to try the food and so we called in and placed an order for pickup. We were told it would take 40 minutes. When we got to the restaurant to pick up, we were told by the waitress that the restaurant was busy and since we didn't pick up the phone when they called (literally 15 minutes before we arrived / we were driving) they sold our food. AFROBEATS KITCHEN SOLD THE FOOD WE CALLED THEM TO ORDER. IT MAKES NO SENSE. I've never experienced this my whole life eating out where a restaurant tells you they sold the food you called to order because they called you once and you didn't pick up. There was no empathy or care about the situation. They just told us there was no food and left it there. I left really disappointed because we drove a long way and I will definitely not be eating here. It's no way to treat paying customers and this situation could have been handled so...
