Today, I went to a restaurant that one of my friends had recommended. I arrived around 8:30 PM, and there were only three ladies sitting inside. As we entered, a girl named Noor approached us. Unfortunately, she was extremely rude. She literally threw the menu card onto our table, which made me feel really bad—especially since it was my birthday, and my friends had come all the way from Peterborough to celebrate with me. I had told them we could try this restaurant, so it was quite embarrassing for me.

The food was served quickly and was okay—no complaints about that. But the service was by far the worst I have ever experienced. I asked Noor about the rice, like what flavor it had, and her response was shockingly rude: “How would I know? I’m not the one cooking the rice.” I was honestly shocked by her attitude and felt like leaving right then.

I don’t know why she was acting like that, but I also work in a busy restaurant, and I understand how important it is to treat guests with respect. This was genuinely the worst experience I’ve had at any restaurant. I will not return, and I will not recommend this place to anyone—all because of Noor’s attitude and behavior. If the owner reading this, tell your Employees that how to behave to the guest. Nobody will pay to get treated...

Wow! This place is amazing! I used to live in Saudi and haven't had Lahm Mandi (Meat and rice dish) since then. This was mainly due to the fact that there weren't many Mandi places near me. However, once I found out that this place opened up not too far from my house, I knew I had to try! We got the Lamb and Chicken mix and the food did not disappoint.

For my Pakistanis and southeast Asian friends, this would most closely resemble a very flavourful and extraordinary type of "pilau".

It was very flavourful and both the chicken and Lamb were "fall of the bone". They also give this flavourful chutney or sauce on the side, called Sahaweq I believe, but this enhanced the already great flavour of the dish. I would ask for more if you go there. I honestly felt like I was in Saudi eating this type of Mandi. Keep in mind that this place is Yemeni so if you want an authentic Arab Mandi then what are you waiting for! 😀

May Allah put barakah in this restaurant, the chef, and all of the people. Our Prophet Muhammad Salalahu Alayhi wa Sallam mentioned that the people of Yemen are blessed and definitely not just in terms of deen, but...

My recent visit to Aldiwan left me extremely dissatisfied. Upon entering the restaurant, we were informed that the chicken wasn't ready and would require additional cooking time. This immediately limited our options, so we decided to order the mandi lamb single instead. Unfortunately, it was a terrible choice.

For a hefty price of $23.49, we were served a meager portion of lamb, hardly worth the cost. The topping consisted of just a small amount of caramelized onions, which paled in comparison to other restaurants that offer a wide range of delicious toppings like almonds and orher things too. The lack of variety was disappointing.

To make matters worse, there were several tables with leftover food, despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only three occupied tables. This indicated a lack of attention to cleanliness and proper table turnover.

Overall, I cannot recommend Aldiwan to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. The subpar food, limited options, and poor cleanliness all contributed to a truly horrible visit. Save yourself the disappointment and look for alternative dining...

Came to this place with friends looking at the reviews and hoping to try some Yemeni mandi. Place was very deserted with just one girl at the counter and no customers.Tried their lamb and chicken mandi. Portion size was adequate but pricey. Poor service; had to initiate ordering ourselves by going to the counter. After sitting for 10 mins expecting someone to come take the order. The girl at counter was just standing there watching us, probably disappointed seeing us coming in 😂 Not even water served on tables. (Normal courtesy to at-least serve free water on table) Rice was dry and hard to eat. Surprised by $1 charge per mayo serving, adding $4 to our bill.(Mayo tastes like the one you buy from walmart, and packed in small containers ) Ambience was pleasant with ample dining space, but overall not worth the cost. For four people dine in it was $95. Wouldn't recommend and won't return. Thanks!

A Hidden Gem for Authentic Yemeni Cuisine! I had an incredible dining experience at Al Diwan Yemeni Restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality that made us feel right at home. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying a hearty meal with friends or family. The food was outstanding—rich in flavor and beautifully presented. We tried the Mandi and Fahsa, and both dishes were cooked to perfection, with tender meat and aromatic spices that truly transported us to Yemen. The fresh bread and side sauces were the perfect complement. What stood out most was the authenticity of the dishes and the obvious care put into every detail. The service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking to explore genuine Yemeni cuisine. We’ll definitely be back!

Had a very disappointing experience at Al-Diwan. My wife was overcharged for two whole chickens—she was charged $79 when it should have been $39 with the 50% promo. When she noticed the mistake in the car and went back in to get it corrected, they only refunded $17 instead of the full $39. It’s frustrating to see a business take advantage of customers like this, whether intentionally or due to poor management. If they can’t honor their own promotions properly, what else are they getting wrong? Make sure to double-check your receipts before leaving this place! Edit: In reply to the restaurants reply: Restaurant now claims that offer was only for 1. That is incorrect. The staff told me it was for 2 as the previous day, I bought 2 whole chicken at 1 time and promo applied to both. I paid $39 for 2 whole chicken. Very shady business practices.
