Today, I went to a restaurant that one of my friends had recommended. I arrived around 8:30 PM, and there were only three ladies sitting inside. As we entered, a girl named Noor approached us. Unfortunately, she was extremely rude. She literally threw the menu card onto our table, which made me feel really badâespecially since it was my birthday, and my friends had come all the way from Peterborough to celebrate with me. I had told them we could try this restaurant, so it was quite embarrassing for me.
The food was served quickly and was okayâno complaints about that. But the service was by far the worst I have ever experienced. I asked Noor about the rice, like what flavor it had, and her response was shockingly rude: âHow would I know? Iâm not the one cooking the rice.â I was honestly shocked by her attitude and felt like leaving right then.
I donât know why she was acting like that, but I also work in a busy restaurant, and I understand how important it is to treat guests with respect. This was genuinely the worst experience Iâve had at any restaurant. I will not return, and I will not recommend this place to anyoneâall because of Noorâs attitude and behavior. If the owner reading this, tell your Employees that how to behave to the guest. Nobody will pay to get treated...
Read moreWow! This place is amazing! I used to live in Saudi and haven't had Lahm Mandi (Meat and rice dish) since then. This was mainly due to the fact that there weren't many Mandi places near me. However, once I found out that this place opened up not too far from my house, I knew I had to try! We got the Lamb and Chicken mix and the food did not disappoint.
For my Pakistanis and southeast Asian friends, this would most closely resemble a very flavourful and extraordinary type of "pilau".
It was very flavourful and both the chicken and Lamb were "fall of the bone". They also give this flavourful chutney or sauce on the side, called Sahaweq I believe, but this enhanced the already great flavour of the dish. I would ask for more if you go there. I honestly felt like I was in Saudi eating this type of Mandi. Keep in mind that this place is Yemeni so if you want an authentic Arab Mandi then what are you waiting for! đ
May Allah put barakah in this restaurant, the chef, and all of the people. Our Prophet Muhammad Salalahu Alayhi wa Sallam mentioned that the people of Yemen are blessed and definitely not just in terms of deen, but...
Read moreMy recent visit to Aldiwan left me extremely dissatisfied. Upon entering the restaurant, we were informed that the chicken wasn't ready and would require additional cooking time. This immediately limited our options, so we decided to order the mandi lamb single instead. Unfortunately, it was a terrible choice.
For a hefty price of $23.49, we were served a meager portion of lamb, hardly worth the cost. The topping consisted of just a small amount of caramelized onions, which paled in comparison to other restaurants that offer a wide range of delicious toppings like almonds and orher things too. The lack of variety was disappointing.
To make matters worse, there were several tables with leftover food, despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only three occupied tables. This indicated a lack of attention to cleanliness and proper table turnover.
Overall, I cannot recommend Aldiwan to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. The subpar food, limited options, and poor cleanliness all contributed to a truly horrible visit. Save yourself the disappointment and look for alternative dining...
