Aris Place — Restaurant in Toronto

I typically reserve negative reviews for serious issues, especially when it comes to local small businesses. However, I can't help but express my disappointment with the fall of Aris. After being away for a few years, I recently revisited this once-beloved spot, and to my dismay, it seems to have gone downhill. The only redeeming quality is that the restaurant still retains its nostalgic charm, earning it a modest 3-star rating on atmosphere. But the food I ordered lacked any semblance of passion or creativity; it felt like it was prepared with the bare minimum effort. To add insult to injury, they've started nickel-and-diming customers for every little thing, including a measly cup of peanut butter. Aris seems to be taking its loyal neighborhood patrons for granted, and if they continue down this path, they'll surely face the consequences. Aris Place has been around the Roncesvalles area for over 20 years. I went there a few times in the early 2000's and they were an excellent place to eat. I returned only to be disappointed by the server who rushed me to order my meal. I wanted to relax and enjoy a coffee before making any decisions. She returned to take my order and the menu was lying unopened on the table. I had not looked at it yet. I politely asked for five minutes and she walked away from me. When she returned nearly ten minutes later, I ordered the bacon and three scrambled eggs with white toast and a second cup of coffee. The coffee and my breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately because of the miscommunication between the server and myself I gave this place 3 stars and no tip on the bill. Aris Place never fails to impress!

I ordered a large amount of food to take out for a get together I was having at home. We ordered pork & chicken souvlaki meals, and things I don't even think are on their menu (rice?), Greek salad and pita bread. The food was fantastic, guests were happy, and any left overs were happily requested by guests to take home.

I requested to pick up my order early, and was accommodated within minutes (15 minutes to be exact!). I so appreciated their flexibility.
