The WyckThe Wyck
Wyck Recommends: Aroma Espresso Bar (Liberty Village, Toronto) Rating: 3.7/5 Aroma Liberty Village is less “cozy coffee spot” and more “grab it and get out before the parking gods punish you.” Parking’s classic Liberty Village—brutal. Pro tip: find that 20-min free spot near the bank or cough up downtown rates. Inside? Wobbly tables. Funky furniture that feels like it was designed to punish your lower back. The patio’s the only saving grace—when it’s not snowing. And trust me—if it’s snowing? Skip it. This place is a wind tunnel of regret. Whatever you do, don’t sit near the entrance. Between the draft, the lineups, and every Uber driver crashing through the door, you’ll age five years. Now, the bureka. That’s why you’re here. Flaky, golden pastry stuffed with cheese or potato, sometimes topped with tomato, egg, and whatever good decisions are left in this city. They run out—fast. If they’ve got it, grab it. If not? Cut your losses and walk. The coffee’s solid. The rest of the menu? Fine—but you didn’t come for that. Pros: ✔ Bureka’s a sleeper hit—worth the trip if you’re fast ✔ Coffee does what it needs to ✔ Patio is tolerable on good days Cons: ✖ Parking is survival of the fittest ✖ Furniture designed by someone who’s never sat down ✖ Avoid the entrance—constant chaos ✖ Snowstorm? Skip it—you’ll regret it ✖ If the bureka’s gone, so is the point Final Take: Aroma Liberty is a one-trick pony, but that bureka trick is worth it—if they haven’t sold out. Otherwise? You’re sitting in a wind tunnel on a wobbly chair wondering why you didn’t just stay home.

Aroma used to be one of my favorites. I supported them during the pandemic even though after changing their tuna sandwich recipe, every time I receive the sandwich at home the bread would be soggy because the tuna was too liquidy. Every time I order I put a note asking if they can please reduce the amount of liquid that they put on the sandwich because it makes the bread soggy. For some reason, it is always ignored. I made this polite request again and said please and thank you, and not only did I receive the sandwich the same as usual, soggy and with lots of liquid, they wrote on the sandwich, “Thank you??”. Very rude, very childish, very unprofessional. It seems they have also changed the tuna they use. They used to use white albacore and this time it was a lower quality. Very disappointing experience and that is why I have written a review this time. And yes it is my choice to keep going back, a choice that I have now made to not go back. EDIT: I went back to my order details and I can see the note I added had a question mark at the end. This was supposed to be a “thank you” emoji (🙏) and the app couldn’t process it and changed it to a question mark. I imagine this is what the person making my sandwich responded to; assuming I was being rude, I am guessing. Even if this is true, it’s an inappropriate way to respond in the workplace. You’re representing the restaurant’s reputation.

If you're looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or get some work done, Arorma Espresso Bar is a great choice. Located in the heart of the village, the café boasts a fantastic location with a patio that's perfect for people-watching. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, and the service is excellent. While the food options at Arorma Espresso Bar are not exceptional, they do offer some decent snacks and baked goods. However, if you're looking for a full meal, there are much better options available in the village. Nevertheless, the quality of the coffee and espresso drinks is exceptional, and they offer a variety of options that cater to every taste. Arorma Espresso Bar is a great place to work remotely or catch up with friends over a cup of coffee and a conversation. The space is conducive to productivity, and the comfortable seating and relaxed atmosphere make it a great place to spend a few hours. Additionally, the free Wi-Fi ensures you can stay connected while you work or chat with friends. Overall, if you're looking for a cozy café with great coffee and a welcoming atmosphere, Arorma Espresso Bar is an excellent choice. While the food options may be limited, the location and ambiance make it a great spot to grab a coffee and relax.
