I love this place, I really do. I used to live in the area and for me it was a huge satisfaction to go there for one of those special pastries they have. You can’t go wrong with any of it. Sadly to day I will give a bad review JUST for their customers service. Today ( May 11, 2023) I went to the store in the morning, I got different pastries with my husband and I requested a bubble tea. I am unfamiliar with the product and I wanted to try it. I mentioned to the person who was helping me that I wanted a bubble tea ( I just said that) I was kind of slow reading the selection and deciding. The big problem was with the girl who was working at the cashier area. As soon as I asked for a bubble tea she asked me if I wanted ice, sugar? … ( so far so good) but I realized that I didn’t said the type of drink I wanted. I continue and I mentioned my selection and she repeated with ice? Sugar? And I noticed something was off ( why she is asking again)I checked the scream and I noticed it was 2 drinks on it. I mentioned that I only asked for 1. She said ā€œ you asked for milk teaā€ and I said ā€œ no, sorry I asked for bubble teaā€ and she turned her eyes to me and said ā€œ milk tea is bubble tea, when you said bubble tea that is what it meansā€ …. Sorry? I told her that I’m unfamiliar with the product so I didn’t know that. Even though that sounds untrue and she was very very rude to me. I decided to do not have a issue with her. I selected my drink, payed ( no tips of course) and we left. Know I ask, it was that necessary? Maybe she was having a bad day ( was around 11am) I get it. But if you are working with customers pls do your best. I said I was unfamiliar with the product so maybe tacking the time of helping me to choose and explaining to me how to select with so many options wouldn’t have been a lot better.

Today it was a bad experience there and I hope they can improve this type of service. Regarding food and quality you cannot go...

I have always like this place and kept buying for years until there was one girl who really disgusted me today around 4:35 pm on Mar 23, 2024 with her bad attitude and her words which made me really uncomfortable. I even signed up the VIP membership. She didn’t ask for if i am membership just went straight to charge and until she saw the vip and gift card which i always pre-loaded to save the trouble of receipts. She became very upset and impatient. I sensed the irritations from her. At the end i asked for a bag which I rarely want one as i always put the foods in my tote. But today the tote was way too full and heavy so I asked for a bag. I just realized they start to charge for the bag which is totally fine after I got the confirm from the manager there I believe. I replied nicely sure you can charge from my gift card. And she became even more impatient as her face is too obvious to show so I HAD to call it out!!! I don’t deserve such an attitude! She said Cus I was on the phone. Excuse me , I had to hang up my call just to buy foods there?! I have to change my work schedule to fit into her preferences?! I highly doubt it was because she processed the transaction and realized last min that I have a VIp membership that she had to cancel and redo everything again. The troublesome bothered her!! If that’s the case, why even set up a vip program!? And why her attitude is like this!!! Why this behaviours like she owns the bakery?! And this is the customer service we should get from her?!like literally this is out of nowhere and I got this mistreat! If she s not happy with her job or tired, please take a break and come back. I don’t have the obligation to take her attitude! If this get worse I will definitely get my lawyer team involved! This is my first bad review! I can’t take this! And I won’t take this! I need an explanation or resolution...

I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with Bake Code. As a long-time customer and an avid user of their mobile app.

According to their app, I was entitled to a complimentary birthday drink. I had diligently registered my birthday on the app, eagerly anticipating this special treat. However, when I visited the store on my birthday and showed them the app, I was informed that the free barcode for the drink was not displaying due to a supposed technical issue.

What baffles me is the complete lack of effort on the part of the staff to rectify the situation. Instead of proactively finding a solution or offering an alternative to make my birthday celebration memorable, they simply dismissed the issue as a technical glitch and made no attempt to accommodate me. This level of disregard for customer satisfaction is simply unacceptable.

This incident has left me feeling undervalued as a customer. It is not solely about the drink itself; it is about the principles and integrity a business should uphold.

Regrettably, I have come to the decision that I will no longer be returning to Bake Code. The combination of broken promises and poor customer service has deeply disappointed me. It is essential for businesses to prioritize their customers and deliver on their commitments. Bake Code has demonstrated a lack of integrity and a disregard for customer satisfaction, and I can no longer support such practices.

I sincerely hope that Bake Code takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving their service standards. It is crucial for them to address their technical issues promptly and train their staff to provide better customer service. Until significant improvements are made, I will be advising others to reconsider patronizing Bake Code, as they have shown a lack of accountability and a disregard for...

Bake Code is a unique spin on an Asian bakery. You'll definitely find some of the most interesting buns and croissants there; i.e. salted egg yolk croissants, Sriracha and cheddar sausage roll, purple potato milk custard bun, etc. The handful of times items I have tried have been good but prefer other bakeries in Toronto. Charcoal Matcha Croissant -- The matcha custard centre was silky smooth and creamy with just the perfect amount of matcha flavour! The croissant itself was very flaky and super instagramable but it wasn't quite buttery enough for me and had a slight sourdough taste. ⁣ Hoping mine was a one off because I have always heard great things about Bake Code's croissants. Matcha Tiramisu -- This tiramisu inspired cake has fluffy layers of sponge cake and cream with a generous dusting of matcha. If you're a fan of the cakes from Chinese bakeries I'm pretty sure you'll like this! It isn't too sweet or overly heavy. The layers are very light and airy with a hint of matcha, but with the matcha powder topping you definitely get your matcha fix. Not sure if I'm just over analyzing but this cake seemed to also have an almost sweet floral taste; if you've tried this cake let me know if you tasted it too! ā£ā€ Sesame Cake -- Mild sesame flavour and wasn't too sweet. Again, this cake is very similar to cakes you can find at Chinese bakeries - light cake layers with air cream. Bake Code is a great place to try something different, but expect to pay higher than Asian bakery prices. The seating is pretty limited so go during off hours or grab to-go.

I purchased a whole Taro Mousse Cake (6ā€) today from this ChaTime/Bake Code location. I purchase cakes from here every year. When I went to pick up the cake, my daughter did not like the macaron that was selected and placed on top of the cake. I asked the female employee if it was possible to exchange the macaron for a different flavour. She changed it to the flavor my daughter selected. Then I went to pay for the item. I asked to use my ChaTime reward points and pay the remaining balance. After I paid, I asked to see the receipt (as the total seemed higher than what I anticipated). To my surprise, the employee charged me additional cost of a macaron on top of the cake cost. So I figured they must have moved the macaron aside and placed it with the cake. So while waiting for them to figure things out, I decided to open the cake and make sure everything was ok. Surprise #2: no macaron inside. What the employees did was switch my macaron and charge me for an additional macaron but not give me the extra macaron. I find their actions very disingenuous. A female manager just apologized but I’m unconvinced as I feel they were caught red-handed overcharging me and then if I didn’t check, they would have got away with what they did. I am very dissatisfied with how the situation was handled. Needless to say, I’m unhappy and won’t be returning to this location and giving them my business. And I’ve been a customer here for 3-4 years.

I have to come back here a few more times just to be sure, but my first impression is good so far! There is a lot of yummy-looking pastries and cake here, and it will take me quite a few visits to try them all. I was quite drawn to the matcha honey castella lava cake that comes out fresh everyday at 4pm, but it is quite a big one at $11 each, so I will save that to bring to a party in the future. Got a peppermint steeped tea and a twice baked cheese tart - came to about $9 total after tax - not cheap but not too pricey considering how much they charge for desserts at restaurants. The cheese tart was very delicious - it has the taste of japanese cheesecake, but at a much more intense flavor! Yum! Areas they can improve on: I think they could use some more and better seating. They currently have only 8 tables, which I think would not do them any favors in the winter when outdoor seating is not feasible. Half the table is using cheap grey plastic chairs with no backing, definitely can improve on that. Also, the shelfs at the back are all empty - that could easily be used as additional seating area. I am definitely game into coming back here. There have been very mixed reviews on the millie crepe cakes - I will have to come back to try them....and also the cream puffs, and tiramisu cakes..lol
