Hidden Gem in Scarborough for some of the best banh mi I've had in the GTA.

Order: BBQ pork Banh Mi (spicy), Cold cut (spicy)

Location 3/5 While it's on Lawrence, it is a decent sized restaurant in a very busy plaza in a middle eastern dominated area. It is easy to dismiss or overlook this place unless you know about it. I'm glad I did not.

Service: 5/5 Fresh to order. This place is very busy too but they make the banh mi to order and quick. Take out is best I think if you're going to pick up a sandwich. Most of the line up is for the pho restaurant.

Venue: 3/5 Very typical and lively restaurant. Much like I expect at any delicious Pho place with a seperate sandwich take out counter. Nothing special but good enough for a place that showcases more the food than anything.

Value: 5/5 10% off if you pay cash, sandwiches aren't expensive, all under $10 each as it is. Very generous amounts of vegetables and meat. One of the more substantial banh mi I have come across. I got 2 sandwiches for under $14. With times of inflation this is definitely a good deal.

Taste: 5/5 Not only are the portions good, the ingredients were very fresh. The bread was very crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.. Vegetables very tasty (pickled carrots full of flavor), delicious succulent meat, especially the pork. The cold cut was slightly above average having a good amount and extra pate was put into it compared to the others i've had. BBQ pork is clearly a winner. A bit greasy but I call that flavor. LOL

Overall: 5/5 Will go back when I'm in the area. This is probably one of the best banh mis I've had for the price and in general. The BBQ pork one is incredible. I will need to try the others as it was difficult to decide between the beef, chicken, pork belly or pork. BBQ pork typically is my go to for Banh Mis. It is no wonder why the restaurant is so busy. I think I will also need to try their pho. If the sandwiches are an indication of the food, then I think everything will...

Came here a few months ago and had been on my list prior to that for so long! It was a last minute decision to stop by before heading home and i ordered a banh mi, kimchi fries and a couple of baos. The banh mi and fries were ON POINT! Loved them so much and the kimchi with every bite of fries and then some cheese. That’s the perfect bite! The beef with all those veggies was so nice amd the baguette is that type where you gotta yank to get the bite out! You guys know what I mean! But it’s so good like that especially when it comes to banh mis! The baos weren’t anything special, but they were done well! The baos were soft and the meats were done well! Normally I would choose pork belly over other meats, but this time I would def choose the lemongrass chicken! The pork belly was kind of dry and overall, I think the baos would’ve stood out more with some type of sauciness. Service was super quick and efficient and no rushing even though there’s was a few people in line. Great job overall amd I’m definitely coming back for those banh mis and those awesome fries!

My favourite sandwich in the city!!! I adore the tofu banh mi!! It’s affordable ($6.50), good portion, and made fresh right in front of you. It takes about 10 min to receive because the tofu is fried to order. The waiting area is the entrance and there are a couple of chairs. Restaurant is simple but always busy. The bread is the perfect amount of fresh and crusty without cutting open the roof of your mouth. Toppings are simple but fresh. I always eat it in the car because I love enjoying it hot. The lady who makes it puts a lot of care to stuff the ingredients in and is always friendly. When I order, she asks me “1 or 2?” My only regret is I say 1 because although I’m full, I want the great taste...

We ordered takeout today, and we really enjoyed our meal. The prices are a little more expensive than Nguyen Huong, which is our usual go-to for banh mi, but the portions at Banh Mi Metro seem bigger, and the filling/toppings are more generous. We tried the original cold cut and lemongrass chicken banh mi, and both were delicious and fresh. The bread was crunchy but not too dry or hard. It was also clear that they were well made (not sloppily done or rushed). It was fairly busy inside, but we ordered online beforehand, so our order was ready to go when we got there. We'd definitely go back, and it will be added to our rotation of go-to places for banh mi nearby.
