Biryani Bar — Restaurant in Toronto

Waited over 70 minutes for my takeout order to be ready, poor customer service.

Decided to try a new Indian restaurant for the first time in awhile and picked this place due to the solid reviews. Placed an order on the website but it had difficulty giving me a confirmation that the order was processed. Website said 15 minutes after placing the order, but called the store to confirm and they said 20-25 minutes at the time.

I showed up at the store 30 minutes after placing the order only to find that they hadn't yet started on my order, and the person at the counter said he was short staffed today and it would take another 15 minutes. Begrudgingly waited for another 15 minutes and checked again, same thing...

Eventually, my order was ready and after a sincere apology from the employee, I went home to share the food with my family. We had ordered some garlic naan, butter chicken, veggie biryani, and paneer tikka. Overall, the food tasted good but was similar to what we have had at other Indian restaurants. Cannot comment on atmosphere since we did not dine in, but it is a small space with 2-3 tables of seating.

I would like to try this place again but the wait for the food during this first experience will prevent me from doing so. Going to stick with my go-to...

Normally I don't give reviews based of first or even second impressions, no matter how glowing and good they may be. However considering the fact that I went to this restaurant two days in a row, something I have never done, I figured I ought to leave something; yes the food is that fantastic

While this place specializes in biryani, to me the real star are the kathi rolls. I've eaten hundreds of kathi rolls in my lifetime and this is the only place that feels the closest to the real thing in all of scarborough, which is ironic because there are places that focus solely on kathi rolls and yet completely fail in capturing in getting close to the Kolkata taste, meanwhile this biryani place blows them all out of the water. I greatly appreciate how they allow the masala flavor to shine without relying too much on sauces compared to other places

The manager informed me that they will be receiving special pans to ensure they create that truly authentic crispy pan Kolkata flavor. I will most definitely be looking...
