I read on blogTo that Bobbie Sue's was getting negative reviews, which they say is unjustified. I would like to add my comments to this. I'm giving them 5 stars so this negative review does not affect their rating. I don't usually write negative nor positive reviews because I am more interested in taking pictures and making videos of food.
I was not a frequent customer, but I would usually visit once a year around Mac & Cheese National Day.
During the peak years of COVID in 2021 or 2022, I made a visit. I would say that customer service was not a priority on my last visit. The young female, probably a student, working on that day basically ignored me in that she didn't even acknowledge me as I was standing there alone with no other customers let alone to take my order. She didn't appear to be busy handling orders, but she did appear to be having a long conversation with a young male. It appeared to me this was not an employee to employee conversation, but more like a boyfriend girlfriend conversation. I could be wrong on this, but how can an employee not notice when a customer is standing at the counter while they were having an intense conversation? I actually left and came back a few minutes later hoping their conversation ended, but it didn't. I didn't want to interrupt their conversation to get customer service so I left without ordering and haven't been back since.
I think the owner needs to keep a closer eye on their employees so they stay focused on serving customers. Anyways, I will give Bobbie Sue's 5 stars for all my previous visits except my FINAL visit. During the previous visits, the customer service and food was great except for my...
Read moreThe first time I had food from here was back in the summer of 2016 after hearing a few good things from friends and colleagues. I ordered the classic Mac n cheese. As far as I can remember, the service was good, and the food was hot and smelled nice. However, there were a few things that I was not impressed by. The portion size was very large for one person, some of the macaronis were watery, and some were al dente. Additionally, there was not enough cheese coating the macaronis in the middle and the bottom. I assumed it was just an overhyped place, or it could have just been me.
Months later, my friend suggested we order food from here. I told her about my experience, and she suggested trying something else. So, I ordered the Camp Mac. I was happy that I did. It was well-made, cheesy, and crusty on the top. It was not watery; it was like a steakhouse quality Mac n cheese.
I do order food from here now and then, or whenever I’m craving Mac n cheese. My favourite so far are the Spicy Boi and Camp Mac. I personally would love to have an option to add green bell peppers, jalapeños, mushrooms, green onions, and other pairable condiments for additional fees.
I always had a good experience with the service at Bobbie Sue’s. I would be careful when ordering through Uber Eats, as sometimes the drivers do not use insulated bags to keep the food warm, which can affect the quality. Overall, this is a place to go when you seek comfort and nostalgia, and just want to relax for the day.
Ps: I believe that the name comes from the song written by Wood Newton, Dan Tyler and Adele...
Read moreAfter doing some yelping on what is around the Ossington and Dundas area, I stumbled upon Bobbie Sue's . So I made my way and I found out that the storefront is just off Ossington on Foxley street.
I ordered the large size carbonara mac n' cheese. The employee recommended the green tree, classic or pulled pork. I'm a fan of carbonara pasta in general so I had to try it. The mac n' cheese took about 5 minutes for them to make. It came in a box and I asked whether there was a dine-in area and the employee said either downstairs or the lawn chairs and benches outside. I opted to go downstairs since it was a chilly day.
The mac n' cheese was great. The texture and flavour were there but I found the bacon bits to be a little bit too salty for my liking. The saltiest of the bacon kind of ruined the entire mac n cheese for me. The noodles were pretty good as they were corkscrew shaped.
Overall, I would come back again and try one of the employee recommendations and would not opt for the carbonara.
PS: if you opt to eat downstairs, it feels like half a kitchen and half a storage unit. But it is nice of them to put a table down there even though it gave me a...
