This was our first time here. I would like to say from the beginning the food was amazing. We had the steak tar tar, Brussel Sprouts, a salad as well as shrimp and scallops. All of it was incredible. I highly recommend going to here for dinner. What makes this experience a 3 star is the service and people who worked here. It was typical awful hipster Dundas/Queen west service where the employees seem annoyed that you are there and asking them questions about the menu. I guess when you have a higher minimum wage people feel less inclined to try hard and just expect a tip at the end of the meal. When we ordered a bottle of Cava they didn’t bring a chiller with it and then when we asked for one the server seemed annoyed that we asked for our cold wine to be chilled. My girlfriend has a server gluten allergy and when we asked the server about the menu she rolled her eyes and actually said “oh you want me to make recommendations!” as if we should know what what was safe to eat on the menu. They never once came to pour our wine into our glasses, which I thought was extremely odd for a place with such a long wine list. We ordered a second plate of Brussel Sprouts and they never came but when they showed up on my bill I asked for them to be removed and again it seemed like I was asking the server to go back up to mount doom to cast the ring into the fire just to have something I didn’t eat taken off my bill. When she finally came back the tip options on the machine were way too high for the level of service this place produces again making me think they have no clue how bad their service was. I tipped the standard 15% which is generous considering how awful the staff were at this place. Again food was amazing. But maybe the owner should find some staff that actually want to be there because that was an awful representation of the restaurant. We even saw the couple beside us leave early and put their bottle of wine in their jacket because they were getting pretty awful service as well. So go here for the food and just expect to be treated awfully by the staff and you’ll have...
Read moreAfter my horrible experience here, I sent them an email detailing my experience. They said someone would get back to me. Been a week and nothing so I guess why not share my honest experience here with you folks. Came here for a date and my goodness I regret ever stepping foot in here. I know it's a wine bar, so food may not be the main focus, but oh my god I have never almost wanted to cry upon seeing the "food" order being being brought out to my table. We ordered the MIX cheese ($24) and the MIX cured meats (27$), so here is where it begins...the cheese plate, comes out in a tiny plate, slapped on was three pieces of random cheese. This plate comes as is so only cheese. My goodness, even one of the cheese they served was a spreadable cheese. Nothing to accompany it, how did you guys expect us to eat that? you want any type bread to help with the cheese you're forced to order their bread and butter ($5 for 4 slices of cold bread) now for the cured meats, oh my. This is by far the most atrocious thing I have ever ordered from ANY restaurant. The cured meat comes as is as well. Only cured meats. And the portion size is a total rip off. You guys should be ashamed for charging customers that high of a price point for what you're actually giving. $27 for a few slices of cured meats? Not even complimentary crostini to accompany the dish? I have never felt so blatantly robbed in my life. People please avoid the cheese and meats platter if you don't want to feel robbed. You will NOT get your money's worth. I REPEAT you will not get your money's worth. Please don't let Paris Paris rob you like I did. Did not get to enjoy our glasses of wine due to the fact that our guest experience was over the roof ruined. Anyways still waiting on a reply from the...
Read moreDo not recommend. First off - OVERPRICED! secondly - The service is a joke here. Absolute joke and they will try to over charge you wherever they can.
Just got home from eating here with a group of 6. When myself and my boyfriend were ready to leave (needed to leave the group early to go home for work next day), I asked for our bill, but was told they do not split bill for parties larger than 6. Okay fair. Thats standard.
I asked the server if i could pay for my portion of the bill via card. He said yes. He calculated our total of the bill and added the auto gratuity on top. I also added our items and the tip to ensure he was correct, and it came to the correct total. We paid 127$ for 3 drinks and some starters. He did not give us a receipt. We left the group.
Later when the remaining group tried to pay for the rest of the bill, the server brought a bill of what we paid for, and the bill he presented to them was missing 2 of the drinks we DID in fact pay for. So the rest of the group had to pay for 2 extra drinks that we ALREADY paid for.
We got exactly these items: 1 french fries 1 calamari 1 shrimp cocktail 2 aperol spritz 1 modelo
The total came to $106 dollars before the tip.
So please tell me how we didnt pay for our 2 drinks? According to the server we missed 1 aperol spritz and 1 beer. That is inncorect and honestly I feel they are trying to scam money out of wherever they can. Terrible. We were served by the blonde guy and we were seated in the most left corner of the patio, against the fence line. Will never come back.
** UPDATE: I emailed the Manager about the experience and they...
