Lucky Shrike — Restaurant in Toronto

I want to like this place as my local bar since it's right around the corner and has a great backyard patio but every time I come here, the bartenders have been so rude. I always get the impression that they don't want to be there and don't want to do their job. I don't need a lot with my service, especially since hospitality in the service industry seems to keep declining every where I go, but I definitely don't need to be met with sass every time I order. I decided to give it one last go months back and brought a friend who's been working as a bartender/server in the industry for over 20 years. He ordered our drinks and unfortunately was the recipient of a few rude comments by the bartender at the time. I just don't get it. If you don't want to work...

An absolute hidden gem. Reasons I love lucky shrike 1. Patio - absolutely gorgeous tree lined Partio in the back. You would never know it’s there. 2. Bar service - no one coming and harassing you. Want a drink? Just go grab it. There is never a line. #2.5. Very reasonably priced. 3. Bringing in outside food. Just got take out from JunePlum or the new Dundas hotspot? Bring it here and enjoy it with a beer. Order in a pizza. It’s laid back. 4. Beer selection. Great variety and consistently have one of the best local selections you will find. Everything on the menu is top of class. 5. Music. Great tunes playing with a laid back but vibrant energy.

I will be transparent - I didn’t try any of the food or drinks here. I know it’s a very Toronto thing for some bartenders to be ‘too cool’ and non-chalant but this was some of the worst service I’ve ever had. We showed up to the bar and were waiting to be seated (the place was half empty) and one of the bartenders (who didn’t make eye contact once) just walked around us without acknowledging us or even saying hello. Bro proceeded to light a candle on the table, turn off a light switch behind us and walked back to the bar to serve someone else.
