Generally speaking this place is pretty decent. I like the fact they have a wood oven for pizza and that’s pretty rare these days. I didn’t try their pizza but probably will in the future if I ever go this far into Scarborough. As far as the chicken sandwich, I would say it’s really may be a five or six out of 10. I compare it to California Sandwiches, which is leagues beyond this. However, of course when you compare the prices, this one is quite a bit cheaper at under $10 with toppings. You’re not getting much chicken that is for sure and the mushrooms are canned, but the peppers are decent. What’s really outstanding however is the cannoli at first I wasn’t planning on buying any anything else but a sandwich but from what I could tell, this was a legit bakery, and they made the cannolis fresh to order. All the sandwich was pretty meager. The cannolis are quite large and are quite good quality. Mostly because they are freshly made. The large cannolis are around $3.50 each so not exactly cheap. But the quality is definitely there. As far as the ambience I wouldn’t say there’s much desire to sit here and eat.. nothing like any fast food place like a California Sandwiches for example. I also bought a pizza dough from them and the guy who worked there told me that they bring the flower in from Italy so it’s not as processed. The dough itself is actually quite good from what I could tell. It doesn’t have the oily taste or smell that you find from the supermarkets so you can tell this is decent quality, but it is three dollars for 700 g. I think next time I go here I will try the pizza since it’s kind of a rarity to find woodfired pizza. Nothing here is cheap, but it looks like it’s reasonably priced although hit and miss in terms of the quantity.

I am giving this place a low score based on the service I received and the fact that they were out of pizza. I dropped by this establishment to try the wood oven pizza and to my delight at approximately 2:20PM in the afternoon on Dec. 9th, (keep in mind, they are now open till 5pm), the lady behind the counter said they are not making any more pizza for the day. I then asked what time do they stop making the pizza, she said 230pm, then she corrected herself and said they ran out of dough. Not impressed. I then took the two slices that were premade and paid 3.68$. Not happy with the price. The slices are tiny and the pizza was hard as a rock, as she did not offer to warm the slices. This is a safety hazard. I can't comment on the pizza as not enough bites to enjoy as it was so small, not enough for a snack or a meal.

I want to thank Calabria Bakery for accommodating me at the last minute for my birthday cake “ yes I bought my own birthday cake” lol. It was absolutely delicious and fresh and decorated beautifully, sorry about the pic it was a bumpy car ride. These days it’s hard to find good old school Italian traditional stuff, also the staff were wonderful, very friendly and sweet. Thanks again, I enjoyed it immensely 🍰❤️😋

I'd add pictures for comparison but I don't seem to have the option to do so. I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter's sweet 16. I had them prepare it for the day before. I got there early so I expected a bit of a wait, but come to find out we were there almost 45 minutes..what took so long? Why, if they knew it was for a certain day and time was it not prepared and waiting for pick up? Why did they have a child (she told us she recently turned 17) prepare it? Why did it look NOTHING like my daughter had asked? (she even included a picture when ordering) and now from them rushing it and not waiting for it to cool before (incorrectly) decorating it, her cake has slid to the side and is lopsided. I am not happy. I will never return and I will be demanding a refund as soon as they open tomorrow. We didn't even drive that far from the Cafe to home. Highly unimpressed. Do not go to this Cafe unless you want your...

I haven’t been here for at least 10 years. This place had a wood-fired stone oven for baking Pizza pies. Well, it’s still here!! The downside is the oven is only fired up for lunch on Thursday’s and Friday’s so I had to settle for something else.

My take-out dinner was a $7.50 Veal Sandwich on a round Kaiser bun with peppers, onions, mushrooms and extra sauce. I added a $2.50 Arancini which is a rice mixture rolled into a ball with mozzarella, sauce and peas in the centre and then coated with bread crumbs before frying.

How can anyone go to an Italian bakery without buying a Brio soda and a $3.50 decadent dessert? Not me! It’s my reward for returning home after a long absence.

Total bill was $17.45 which was reasonable for my evening treat tonight. If I had the time, I would have stayed and ate my delicious meal in their large seating area.

I will return for...
