I walked in gasping for air, about to collapse from low blood pressure. A first-time customer, barely able to speak, I asked the waiter:
“Please… just give me any juice.”
He didn’t blink.
“We don’t have juice. Order on your own phone. Pay with the QR code.”
Are you serious?
I was visibly dizzy, panting, barely functioning. I told him I was sick. He didn’t care. Instead, he walked past me— and went straight to serve a white woman who just arrived.
Let me be clear: I’m an Asian woman, visibly unwell, in need of help. He was Asian too. But in that moment, I was made to feel less than human.
That’s not just bad service. That’s emotional violence.
This is Canada. North York. A place known for diversity. Yet I was treated like a disposable body while someone healthier, whiter, and smiling got priority.
And still, I tipped 15%.
I’ll say this: the smoothie helped, the salmon salad was great. But your staff? Cold. Robotic. Inhumane. You don’t deserve to be in hospitality if you can’t even help someone collapsing in front of you.
This was my first and will be my last visit. I don’t tolerate racism. Not even from one Asian to another.
To the owner: Wake up. This is how your customers are being treated. Not everyone will speak up, but I will. Because next time, it might not be low blood pressure. It might be someone dying. And your waiter still telling them,
“Scan the code.” But why your paywall still requires TIPS if you are not as useful as the Code.
Awful experience and awful Service. (I edited my first version of comments to make sure everything is correct and rational. Make your own...
Read moreChillax Eatery & Mart is a cute hidden restaurant by the 401 on Yonge. The ground floor where you enter is an Asian Mart, but the restaurant is upstairs! I've been to the other Chillax locations (& Co on Yonge and Coffee on Leslie) and love them, so I had high expectations for this place. Unfortunately I was disappointed.
The ambiance itself is very cute and cozy. The service is also very good, and the prices aren't bad. We were a party of 3 on a Friday night and it was pretty empty. We were seated in a booth and ordered 2 drinks, an app, and 3 mains. The menu itself is confusing on what they specialize in. They pretty much have a dish in every cuisine you could think of - Japanese, Thai, Taiwanese, Italian... I couldn't gauge what their "specialty" might be. You can't even really call it Asian Fusion because each dish is like its own cuisine - there's nothing innovative to call it "fusion".
The food was subpar. Out of everything, only 1 of the mains is something I would get again - the rigatoni. However the dish did come out cold. The matcha latte was alright with a good sweet taste and enough matcha flavour. Everything else was just average - nothing special but I've had better elsewhere. The ramen was too salty and the smashed burger was... not so smashed.
I really wanted to like this place but maybe my expectations were too high. Unfortunately I won't be returning, but I'll definitely pay a visit to the other locations.
Tip: There is a small paid parking lot behind the restaurant! Despite it being 7pm on a Friday, I was able to find...

The staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive, adding to the relaxed vibe of the restaurant.
One standout is the signature burger – juicy, perfectly cooked, and served with a side of crispy fries that hit the spot every time. For those looking for something lighter, the salad options are fresh and satisfying, with just the right amount of dressing. Drinks-wise, they have a solid selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages to pair with your meal.
The vibe is perfect for both a casual dinner with friends or a low-key date night. The prices are reasonable, making it a great choice for anyone looking for quality without breaking the bank.
