Chungchun Rice Dog is found in the white plaza at Midland and Finch. A small shop, no seating area. Just 2 counters and a table along the wall.
The windows have promotional posters of their food on them. Inside the shop, there are lots of food posters along the walls. There's this little info card that says that Chungchun has an app for you to use. On one of the walls, there's this big display that suggests that you had sugar/sauce to your rice dog.
I ordered a Gamsung Rice Dog. It's $6.99, plus tax it's $7.90. The Gamsung Rice Dog has potato cubes all around the outside of the rice dog. The rice dog itself was light and airy, not heavy and bready like a regular old corn dog. The hotdog inside was salty and tasty.
The sauce and sugar is free of charge, it gets added onto the rice dog before it is given to you. You could just skip over the sugar/sauce stage if you wanted. Since this was my first time here, I asked the worker what I should get. I ended up getting the sweet mayo and sugar onto my rice dog. The sauce and the sugar added an extra layer of flavour the combined really well with the rice dog and the potato bits.
You can't see the size in the picture, but it's big, like 7 ish inches long, 2 ish inches wide... It was basically bigger than my hand. Other than size, it did taste pretty good, different, but good.
I will be going back to try the other flavors. Like the ramen one... Try their popular flavours. And probably come back with friends, cause I think they'll like the...
Read moreLike every other location I have been to, the food is totally worth every moment you experience with it. The cheese pulls on the mozzarella hot dog, the crunch of the ramen chip or the soft gamsung potato with the crunchy exterior. No matter which one, you know you’re always gonna have that moment after the bite where you think, that hit the spot. I have heard there’s long waits as this could be a very high density location and I lucked out as I only had to wait for about 3 or 4 orders in front of me, but the orders were definitely starting to pile up as I picked up my order. I would recommend, if you see a line up to get your dogs and experience one of the awesome bubble tea shops in the same plaza. You will know your number is there as they have it displayed electronically on the window of which number they’re serving, so you know if your order is ready or not. Lots of parking as well but this plaza is known for their food and drinks, so spots can fill up fast, especially during meal times. Service was awesome as usual! Quick in taking orders and letting you know about your order number on the window too! Definitely satisfied the snack craving my family was having and my third location I’ve tried and all consistent with the quality. Great job overall!

Read moreMeh. I've tried Korean Rice Hot Dog just this one time and I don't really see what the fuss is about. It tastes like corndog with extra things like noodles and squid ink added to the batter. I didn't even notice the difference that the batter was made of rice. I know it sounds like I'm reviewing Korean rice hotdogs but unfortunately I got them from this place so I'm reviewing this place by extension. The staff had a little bit of attitude. I'm sorry that I don't have any clue about their products and I have so many questions. I actually gave 3 stars first cuz the hotdogs are not terrible but I took 1 star back cuz I remembered the attitude and lack of patience from the staff. Things to note: This place is take-out only. There are different sauces and toppings written on the wall. Make sure you know what you want on your hotdogs so you don't get flustered when your order is ready (it's a long list). Make sure also that you have alternatives in case they're out of the sauce/powder that you like.
Would I go to this place again? No. Would I try Korean hotdogs from other...
