If you are a coffee lover, the Coffee Tree Roastery is a must!!! Their Grinch latte which is a non-coffee beverage is also a matcha lovers MUST TRY! Not only is the coffee extraordinary, but so is the ambience and all their wonderful staff! This cafรฉ came through big time for me in my efforts to find something special to do that was coffee related for my husbandโs birthday! WOW and thank you!!!! I had called at least a dozen places asking if there were any workshops or anything that was a knowledge based, teaching piece in the area of coffee and this place was one of the only places that was quick to say, โsure, we can set something up,โ without hesitation!!!๐ The staff working here are deeply passionate about what they do and so incredibly knowledgable and super friendly! I spoke with Julia who reassured me that she would make it special and she even called me back to confirm everything. โจWhat this team of staff set up for this special birthday event totally surpassed my expectations and it was so extremely memorable and informative and a birthday event that will never be forgotten!!! The birthday boy was so impressed and learned so much!!!! โจI would very highly recommend this cafรฉ, not only for their exceptional coffee, but the atmosphere there is superb! We learned about the history of the place, the different coffee methods, the grind, frothing, how to make the perfect coffee at home and so much more, and the intimate sit down format allowed us to ask questions. In addition to that, each staff member spent time with us discussing their area of expertise; simply tremendous!!!!! THANK YOU Robin, Julia and Olivia for making this a most remarkable coffee experience that will forever enhance coffee drinking for life and is a major highlight in birthday celebrations!!! โ๏ธ๐ Thank you for being so accommodating given the fact that this happened at the onset of the pandemic mask mandates being lifted! Truly an outstanding experience overall!!! โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ...
ย ย ย Read moreI get my coffee the way I like it here about 20% of the time. I have to remember to specify "single shot" otherwise what I get is a horrible imbalance of milk and espresso (just because single shots and double shots are the same price, it doesn't mean everyone prefers a double shot!). They should either ask "single or double?" or assume it's a single shot like normal espresso places. The dark roast coffee is also burnt so you are better off going with a medium roast. Last thing, the shot should go directly into the cup itself otherwise you lose most of the crema. Coffee tree, however, uses little pitchers to transfer the shot from the machine into the cup you drink from. I understand this is a limitation for those who order colossal drink sizes but I order the smallest size possible and they still do it. Considering all that, I think it's overpriced regardless of the quality of the organic, fair trade, etc. coffee beans that they get. I have been going there just because it was the only espresso shop nearby and I can grab it on my way into the subway. I also like the food and tea they serve. Too many times though I've left with a bad coffee which I didn't order because I didn't have time to wait for them to fix it. One of the girls there is also quite rude and a few times she tried to correct me on the difference between a cappuccino/cortado/latte (which was actually incorrect!). Thanks but I'm Italian :) The rest of the servers are extremely nice however. I'll go to Coffee...

I've lived in the neighbourhood for over a decade and have tried to support this place as a customer for years as I feel it adds to the neighbourhood. But every time I go in there I can't help but feel gouged by the high prices, and smacked by the smugness of the staff that work there.
Recently [10-May-2015] bought half a pound of their overpriced beans, and the total was $12. Tried to pay by visa by they insisted they would have to charge me an extra dollar to cover their merchant fees. I pointed out that every other vendor also has to pay the merchant fees in order to provide credit card payments, and they countered that people come in and try to buy $2 drinks on visa. Guess what - in most other coffee providers you can do that, and I'm buying $12 worth of beans, not a single drink!
Their "we're a small business" claim doesn't wash - they've been there forever, and all the other vendors in Toronto pay the merchant fees.
On the basis of value and lack of putting the customer first, I really can't recommend Coffee Tree, who bill themselves as "your...
