Updated Review: They deserve 7 stars! As per the owner's response to my original review, I contacted them and they asked us to come in for another visit. When we went in we advised the server that we were there to see the owner Rahim. After we were seated Rahim came to see us himself, he sat down with us and explained what went wrong the last time and how he intended to fix things. Even though we didn't see our last visit as a "negative" experience from his perspective if the customer is not completely happy it is a negative experience. It was clear that he takes customer satisfaction as a top priority. Rahim then offered some suggestions on what we should order and went way above and beyond the extra mile one would expect him to in preparing our order. The order was prepared beyond generously and was cared for to every last detail; even a whole bunch of extra napkins were serviced this time, a relatively minor detail otherwise but they took care of it anyways. The restrooms were spotless both times I visited and restrooms say a lot about how an establishment runs itself. Customer service is clearly their top priority and it is evident that Rahim takes great pride in providing the best possible service at dSpot.
Initial review - grammatical corrections made: I was pleasantly surprised to find this location right opposite to the VIP cinemas on Queensway, a great way to end a day after the movies.
So we decided to check it out today afternoon, we were greeted warmly by our server named Akash, he offered us to sit anywhere we liked. We selected the round table on the right side from the entrance, Akash was prompt in taking our order, we ordered Hawaiian heat pizza and undercover nut waffle, we asked for a couple of toppings on the pizza to be on half the side only and he obliged. The taste of both items was on point! Absolutely delicious. So why did I deduct the two stars? Well, first as we were sitting at the round table there was a strong pungent smell (baking paprika?) That caused both me and my partner to erupt in a fit of cough, only when that happened did we realize that the kitchen was outside right next to our seat, that was quite unexpected. We asked to be moved to a different booth, the server happily obliged. But we both agreed that the smell was off-putting and shouldn't have been there in the first place. Secondly, when the waffle arrived, the ice cream on top looked like someone had squished it together with their hands! Not appetizing at all (see pics I have uploaded). This was very much unlike how we have been served at the Mississauga location, where the ice cream was nicely placed in 4 scoops. And that is what we were expecting. Over here the giant squishy lump of ice cream was staring like a well-punched hulk! I did convince my partner to ignore the looks, as I am very ugly myself and the character is what really matters, but they thought the ice cream was even funnier looking than me. After a bit of back and forth, we agreed that even though it's smashed, it's still hulk and we'll give it a chance.
Then was the pizza, even though the taste was amazing, the toppings were chopped way to big and kept falling off the pizza like the roof crumbling on top of Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom, especially the chicken strips, the salami, and the bell peppers need to be chopped to a smaller size so they don't rain on the table.
Lastly one of the plates that were provided to us was not clean and only one napkin each was provided as we sat down (though they were readily accessible by the cash register).
Akash, however, did check on us a couple of times and when my partner suggested better presentation on the waffle, he was receptive and not offended, he suggested we upload the pics here so the owner (Sameer?) can see.
So the server and the taste of the food earns the three stars, but the place certainly has potential to get five stars with some small...
Read moreBy far the best franchisee owner!!! Raheem really knows and understands how to please his clientele. He has a great system that works and not only that, he must be a great leader because all of his staff share in his passion for making amazing desserts and treating ppl with respect. The reason I had to leave this is because of the consistency, and that we visited another location (eglinton/dixie) while etobicoke's location was undergoing renos and the staff were absolutely horrifyingly the complete opposite. The store owner/manager did not care whatsoever about us and when we finally received our crepes they looked and tasted nothing like the way this location does things! Lied to us and charged us $4 extra for ice cream when it came with the chill to the cone menu option to begin with and then gave us..literally a tablespoonful of ice cream..by the time it was plated and reached our table it was mush from the warm plate. When I asked why does the portion look like this, i was told "we follow portion regulation" is that even a thing🙄. When I tried to speak to the manager she had a real nasty attitude and sent someone else after walking away. She then proceeded to angrily make my friends crepe with bare hands after touching money and bussing countless other tables and touching her face (zero hand washing) dropped his crepe and then still proceeded to plate it(did not know I could see her) and that was the end of the line for me! We tried dixie/eglinton location 2x with different friends to give them another shot and it was the same but worse experience, (this being described as our last). The manager is supposed to be the "leader" it is no wonder that with her extremely poor skill..and "stench" coming from her clothing (extreme heavy odd smelling perfume) that the rest of the employees followed suit! We left early, our friends got the wrong crepe and we didn't even finish I paid and left a tip still. We will always cherish the south etobicoke's very best DSPOT location as setting the bar so high for the others to match. So happy it's reopened and even better than ever looking so dapper!.
TIP: ask for the "Johnny special"😉
Thanks to Raheem and the team for keeping it 💯, 💯% of the...
Read moreD Spot Dessert Café on The Queensway is easily one of the best dessert spots in Etobicoke! From the moment you walk in, the vibe is welcoming and cozy — modern décor, fun music, and a lively atmosphere that makes it perfect for hanging out with friends, family, or even for a late-night sweet craving.
The menu is huge, and honestly, everything looks tempting. They have everything from waffles, crepes, cakes, milkshakes, sundaes, and specialty desserts, to savory options like pastas and poutines. It’s more than just a dessert café — you can actually make a full meal out of it.
I tried the red velvet cheesecake waffle and it was amazing: fluffy waffle, rich cream cheese filling, and the perfect amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. The presentation is beautiful too — D Spot puts effort into making every plate Instagram-worthy. The Lotus milkshake is also a must-try; it’s thick, creamy, and full of flavor. If you’re a chocolate lover, you can’t go wrong with their chocolate lava cake — the warm gooey center with vanilla ice cream on the side is pure perfection.
One thing I really appreciate is the portion sizes. They’re generous, so you definitely feel like you’re getting value for your money. It’s perfect for sharing if you want to try a few different items.
Service is also excellent. Even when it’s busy (which it usually is in the evenings), the staff are friendly, patient, and quick to bring out orders. Everything came fresh and warm, and they checked in to make sure we were enjoying our food.
Parking is easy to find since it’s on The Queensway, and the place is well-kept and clean — another plus.
Overall, D Spot on The Queensway is a gem. Whether you’re celebrating something, grabbing a late-night treat, or just want to satisfy a sweet tooth, this place delivers every time. Highly recommend it for both dessert lovers and anyone who enjoys trying creative, over-the-top food that actually tastes as good...
