When I first discovered Diana's a month ago I was delighted to have found a market with a wide selection for oyster nights with my girlfriend. My first purchase a month ago had a few rotten/dead west coast oysters, but I didn't think much of it at the time. Yesterday we dropped by again to pick up a dozen gwi gwis and a dozen casumpecs. When I started shucking the gwi gwis I could immediately feel that they were weak and had no life in them. I probably could have opened them with a tooth pick instead of a shucking knife. Half of the gwi gwis we purchased were rotten/dead. 5 were dry with no liqor. One had liqor but it smelled so rotten and foul as soon as I shucked it. As seen in the photos, all of them had a lot of disgusting smelly black meat colour, rather than clean white meat. On the otherhand only one of the dozen casumpecs was rotten. My guess is some of the west coast oysters are weaker and don't live as long as the east coast oysters after being harvested. I can understand a few oysters being rotten for every purchase I make but this haul was ridiculous. Please improve your quality control for counter oysters. Someone is going to eventually get sick, and there may be much more than a bad review for your business. Please check and discard oysters with shorter post-harvest lives. If you are a customer buying from the counter, always ask for the harvest dates of the oysters, especially the west coast ones.

To no fault of the staff, I feel this dining experience was very disappointing. I have heard good things about Diana’s and so went here for my uncles birthday dinner. 50 oysters for $50 was good, but all of our other dishes were greatly underwhelming, especially for the premium pricing. In the image is the cocktail shrimp (4 pieces for $22 as an appetizer and it’s not a salad underneath it just ice). The musses were decent but nothing special. Chowder was good, not great (came out the kitchen lukewarm), and the pasta ($35 for clam linguine) was very disappointing for how much pasta there was for its price. The taste was decent but there was not much clam, and it was too salty, its redeeming factor was the garlic x clam sauce even though it was too salty. I’ve had much better pasta and seafood at other restaurants for better pricing. There are other places you can get better quality and quantity for seafood and pasta. But if you’re looking for a place for buck a shuck oysters, this is a great option.

I regret to say that my recent experience here was incredibly disappointing due to the poor service provided by our server, Rosary. From the second we sat down, it was clear that she was incredibly disinterested, and had a terrible attitude when we made requests / asked questions etc. For example, they have the Espresso Martini on their menu. When I tried to order it, she immediately said that they "couldn't do it." ...why keep it on the menu if the staff won't make it, or if you don't have the resources to make them...I also know that this particular drink requires a little bit of extra work to make the espresso, and her response sounded like it was due to her laziness.

Throughout our meal, she purposefully avoided myself and my sister-in-law, who also noticed her terrible attitude. I had to constantly flag her down for small things such as water refills even though she was refilling the water of EVERYONE else at our table! Keep in mind, it was 8 of us that were there for dinner, and we each ordered apps, mains, drinks and desserts. You would expect better service and treatment from an establishment when you think about how much we spent there that day.

There was also an elderly couple who sat behind us, and we couldn't help but overhear the completely disrespectful manner in which she treated them. They had requested to pay by card, to which she just pointed at the machine and said "it's right there" in a VERY condescending tone. These are vulnerable, elderly customers who should be treated with respect above everyone else, and the way she was talking to them was absolutely disgusting.

Overall, we left Diana's extremely disappointed due to the level of service provided by Rosary. It's disheartening to see such a lack of professionalism especially in the hospitality industry. I hope that management takes the necessary steps to address these issues to ensure that future patrons don't have to endure similar...

We dined at the restaurant and it was 10/10, delicious food and the service was amazing. We went to get seafood after at the market to prepare for a giant dinner for my dad's birthday. We got two striped bass, a red snapper, a bag of cherry stone clams, 5 dozen kuushi oysters, a box of Beau Soleil, a box of French kiss, and a lb of fresh scallops. Upon paying, I waited for the fish to be cleaned while my mom went to go put the rest of the seafood in the car. Shortly after she came back in to tell the cashier she charged her the wrong amount for a different item for the cherry stone clams. Right above the cherry stones was a giant sign saying Special! 29.99 but we were charged $42 instead. The cashier, Talua, INSISTED that my mom was wrong and that she picked out a different bag of clams, but we specifically read the labels first and grabbed the bag under the sign. The cashier then started saying, if you dont have the money to pay for it then don't buy it (Come on lady, use your common sense. If we paid for it in the first place of course we have the money.) She started escalating her words, which at this point seemed pretty racial because we are chinese. We had to get a Co worker to come back to the car with us to verify that my mom was right and they were Cherry stone clams, and the manager had to come out to give us a refund and apologize. But the cashier in the end, REFUSED to apologize which was not only disappointing but disgusting as well. As someone who has worked in the customer service industry, you learn you should NEVER argue with a customer. Her attitude was garbage and she continued to tell my mom it was her fault and that she was wrong. Everyone in the store could see how badly she was handling the situation. In a professional point of view, whatever the job, you have to train your workers to handle situations like these...

Hey girl, I just posted this review....

I visited the store on May 8, 2021. The line was very long but moving rather fast. As a newbie I would have appreciated it if there was a greeter assisting customers with the protocol of the store. The 1st gentleman was very friendly, as was the lady at the fish counter. I order 3 snappers, some halibut and 1/2 of salmon steak. I was informed by the friendly lady behind the counter that your ordered fish are cleaned once purchased. As I cashed out the cashier Sonia was very friendly. She was efficient and moved customers out quickly with a smile. I noticed 1 person of colour behind the fish cleaning counter to which I greeted with a head nod. Now, as I approached the counter another older gentleman inquired as to how I wanted the fish cleaned. I advised and he complied. However when he finished I was unaware that the plastic white bags are used for taking the fish away. The older gentleman appeared annoyed that I was attempting to grab the clear bag with my hand?! I did not know, this was my first time at the store. When he finally placed the item in the plastic white bag he became dismissive and flashed his hand at me to say "just go"??! Typically I would have said something to management, but why bother, The man at the door with long pepper gray hair witnessed it all and said nothing. He saw how I was dismissed. I do not want to pull the race card but it is hard to change the mindset of older white males. I was really disappointed. Hats off to your cashier Sonia, but as a black woman...I won't ever return to this store. I will buy my fish in Kensington Market where they treat ALL people with genuine customer service. I must also mention I was stared at by everyone since no other customer in there really looked like me so I guess...
