Video and variety store turned brunch destination! We went for brunch on Christmas Day and got a booth for 4 immediately. The server was friendly and cheerful, and everyone wore Christmas-themed hats! We had the $10.99 big grill breakfast, $13.99 steak and eggs, and $10.99 spinach and feta omelette.
The food was decent all-around with nothing really standing out. The bacon was pleasantly crispy and not to the point of being crunchy, and was a bit on the greasier side but tasted good. The ham had a pleasant amount of saltiness. The sausages were cooked well with a crispy surface. The eggs were pretty typical. The home fries weren't bad, but I prefer smaller chunks and more seasoning. I was told the steaks were well cooked and had a nice texture and taste.
The main selling point of this brunch spot is that it has incredible value and great people. If you want a no-frills brunch at an exceptionally low price, look no further. The people there are friendly and hard-working. The owner stopped by to ask how everything was, and we had a nice chat with him. We'll return if we're around the area for...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I checked out Egglinton Grill for the first time, and it honestly felt like stepping into a cozy little diner from the past. The atmosphere had that classic, old-school charm — really warm and inviting.
I had the two-egg and sausage breakfast, and it was the perfect size. Super satisfying and well-cooked. The pancakes were soft and not dry at all, which was a nice surprise. Only thing I wasn’t sure about was the syrup — not 100% if it was real maple or not, but still tasted good.
What really made the experience special though was the owner, Steve. He’s seriously one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He was taking orders, walking around chatting with customers, and even running the ice cream counter. You can tell he really cares about the place and the people in it cause he has very competitive prices for the value of the meal you’re getting. Under $10 an entire are you kidding? Cora’s can’t compete.
He even gave us a free sample of ice cream, which was such a kind touch. Honestly, little things like that go a long way. We’ll definitely...
Read moreWe were visiting Toronto for a concert, and we just so happened to have parked down the street from this amazing little hole in the wall. Originally established as a video and convenience store by Steve Tasses in 1985, this dinner/variety store combo would set the tone for the rest of our evening. The hospitality and kindness of all the staff present that day (Special Thank You to our chef that evening, Abraham) was incredibly heartwarming and profound. We were told plenty of times by Steve not to rush, and as we were the only customers in the restaurant, lovely conversations were being made between everyone. Once we finished our meals, we went up to the counter to pay. Before we headed out the door, he insisted on giving us each a scoop of our choice of Kawartha Ice-Cream, free of charge. It wasn't until i noticed he locked the door behind us was when i googled the establishment and it read "Closed" 10 minutes ago. I recommend this place to everyone i know, and we will absolutely be visiting again. Thank you so much for being a part of such a core...
