Irie Veggie Takeout — Restaurant in Toronto

I’m extremely disgusted with the service of this place. I used to come here for some time but after stopping by today I won’t be going back. I ordered a meal where I asked for everything on the plate and a porridge, and I was told that the total was $15. My girlfriend then placed her order on top of mine which was a meal and two no name waters and the total suddenly went up to $41 and change. Not to mention he gave her everything in her box and placed a few options in mine. There was an noticeable difference. & Mind you, she has never been here before. I don’t know if it’s because he saw me pull money out from the atm in the store or maybe there was some homophobia being displayed but once I reached home I was trying to make sense of why the total came up to $41 and change. That’s an additional $26 for less than I purchased originally. It’s really sad and pathetic that you rob and steal from your own people just to get an extra coin to take home and display yourself to be God fearing!

I don’t recommend this place. There are other restaurants that aren’t conniving and will be honest with their prices. The foods not even that great. It’s pretty basic.

I recommend V’s Vegan for anyone looking for quality Jamaican vegan cooking!

I wish I could rate this place zero stars. This place is a disaster. First, I walked in there and overhear the workers giving me derogatory comments (based on my light complexion, even though I'm not even from European descent, but that's besides the point). I just came to pick up some veggie soup I ordered. They literally threw my soup in a container and put it in a paper bag. As soon as I walked outside the restaurant the paper bag became soggy and the soup container ripped out of the bag and spilled all over the floor and on my pants. I was soooooo uncomfortable with the yelling and comments that they were making, that I didn't even feel comfortable going back and asking for my money back. Never ever go here. Absolute waste of time and money and an overall headache.

Note to future customers: If you are white, or white-passing, good luck trying to get food from here. They clearly have resentment towards all light-skinned people, to the point where they will even make customers uncomfortable for no reason and lose...

The name says it all, Irie Veggie Takeout, a great and happy place to grab your take out ital vegan Jamaican food. Located in the heart of Eglinton Ave. W, they have a wide variety of dishes. They tend to go with the flow, you might go in one day and they have certain options, the another day it's different. I enjoy the randomness in my food it makes things more interesting. They have these buns with nutmeg in them which they wrap in foil, and those are just awesome, probably not good to have too many because of the carbs, but the taste is real Jamaican style. Much appreciate their food, it's good vibes there. Nuff...
