Gui Gui Korean BBQ is a relatively new skewer shop in North York. Their key selling feature is there automated cooking setup. Which allows you to line up about 10 skewers at a time and it’ll rotate and cook on its own. They do have the traditional table BBQ but there’s only about 5 items on that menu and you cannot order both as they occupy the same grill space. Their side dish or alternative menu is also quite extensive with your usual, pancakes, soups, stews, and many more. The skewers come in their usual categories including lamb, chicken, beef, pork, and seafood. A “others” section includes some vegetables, tofu, pineapple, etc. Each selection ranges from $2.95 - $ 8.95 per order with most in the $5.95 - $6.95 range. Majority of the selections come with 4 skewers per order. I did ask for their recommendation and they suggested their pork, beef, and chicken/pork skin. I think everything tasted very good but their lamb and beef exceeded my expectation while the skins was just okay. I’d recommend ordering a combination of marinated and unmarinated skewers as their sauces can become overwhelming. I forgot to order their pineapple! I saw another table order them near the end of our meal and they came 4 per order with massive slices. The meal comes with 3 banchans lettuce, cucumbers, and cabbage. We also ordered the steamed egg ($5.95) and spicy kimchi stew ($7.95). The steamed egg was fluffy and flavorful it was a great pairing for the skewers. The spicy kimchi stew was modestly hot & sour and really cut through the fat of the meal. I think everything tasted great no real complaints, except that I ordered too much for 2 people. I’d be interested to try more of their skewer selection especially their pineapple. Next time I would order a few more of their sides because they’re not too pricey and was really well made.

First time here. Place gets pretty busy during peak times. They are known for their skewers but also do korean bbq. When we went they only had Korean bbq available or wait for the skewers table. We didn't want to wait so we opted for the Korean bbq. I liked the Korean bbq's side dishes. We didn't know how to order the bbq and no real direction was given. We ended up ordering the corn but didn't realize that it was included with the bbq. Staff didn't mention this to us and jostled us order the extra corn on the side. Wouldvehave been nice if they let us know when we were ordering that the Korean bbq comes with the corn. Overall I stoll enjoyed the Korean bbq here even though this place is known for the skewers. Staff could definitely be more helpful and attentive here but it was busy so not sure if that made a difference (but really, it shouldn't). Overall I want to return next time to try the skewers and I do recommend this place to anyone who likes either Korean bbq or Korean bbq skewers to give this place a try! Edit: so I went back to try the skewers and they did not disappoint!! Cool cooking technique as the skewers 'roll' back and forth by themselves and there's a rack to put the cooked food on! I really enjoy the skewers, there's quite a few options to choose from. My favourite was the beef short ribs, they were so flavourful and tender! If I go back I would order just the beef short ribs! Lol. Overall loved the skewers more than the bbq. Will definitely try and come again for more beef skewers!! And I do recommend to anyone who enjoys a different type of meal to give this place a try!

Such a fun and unique kbbq experience. We wanted to go to Daldongnae initially but wanted to try something new. Turns out they are sister restaurants which explains the interior. We decided to go with Combo A ($64.95) for our group of 4 and went with corn cheese as our complimentary side and selected kimchi fried rice and seafood pancake. Side dishes were spicy cucumber, seaweed and a salad. We asked for refills for the first two sides with no restrictions. Kimchi fried rice was full of flavour and on the spicier side. Seafood pancake was a group favourite. The rotating device for the skewers was pretty cool, even leaving the cooked skewers on the top rack kept it hot to eat later on. Now the kicker of this review: we initially wanted kbbq for dinner but wanted to try the skewers. Thinking that Combo A would be enough to test it out without feeling full, we ordered table bbq (the minimum order) to fulfill our cravings. It ended up being a second dinner and we left the restaurant stuffed. It came with a soup and we barely touched it (still finished the meat though). Overall, Gui Gui is great for a skewers type of dinner or you can opt for their grill top kbbq. If you are interested in both, ordering skewers separately is your best option. They will suggest having the skewers first then kbbq after removing the skewer device. It was a cramped dining experience because of the size of their booths but Gui Gui has probably one of the best customer service in the GTA.

Been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now! Finally got around to it. We arrived at 7 expecting there to be a wait for a table but surprisingly there were tables available so we secured a spot in the patio quickly. I read reviews online about them being overpriced but I thought $6.95 for 4 skewers was pretty reasonable. The meats do shrink after they're cooked making the pieces even smaller so if you want to fill up on meats alone, you better order double the amount or more! We ordered the spicy squid, steamed egg and korean egg roll with cheeese. All were good but I'm surprised we had to pay for steamed egg as other kbbq restos gives that as a side. Speaking of sides, they don't give a big selection of free sides. We only had cucumbers, seaweed, japchae, & salad. Surprisingly no kimchi!

We had the beef, lamb, chicken, shrimp, sausage & rice cake skewers. I think my favourite were the beef or lamb. The chicken was too sweet for me. The rice cake gets really hard right after it cooks so that was not enjoyable. Also when they put down the meats they didn't explain which were which so we had to just figure it out ourselves. However I loved the rotating bbq contraption. It's great to see the food cooking infront of us and it did not take long for them to cook either! There's a rack right on top of the rotating skewers so you can rest the cooked ones on top as the heat keeps them warm until you're ready to eat them!

The service wasn't that memorable. They asked how everything was once. We had to ask for more water every time but perhaps they were really busy. We were also busy catching up anyways!

I...
