I would have given a 5 star if it's right after our first visit, but it looks like their shaved ice is somehow downgraded, and the price/menu just changed recently. They used to have 2 sizes for typical shaved ice flavours like matcha and oreo, but now they removed the smaller size (between 8-10 dollars) and only big bowl size is left (average price raised from 11.95 to 13).
Our first visit during summer time was very impressive, we had the small matcha green tea shaved ice it was very creamy and flavourful, fully loaded with condensed milk, mochi, red bean and almond flakes, topped with a scoop of matcha icecream, as we dug in there's more toppings found inside, and the ice melt in the mouth just like milk, it was fantastic!
Second visit was last month and we ordered the cream puff flavour, small bowl also but it's not as great as the first one we had, thought it might be just because of the selection of toppings. So it was okay.
This week we went for matcha flavour again expecting the same thing from our first visit but found out their menu changed so we had to order the big bowl, surprisingly as the price is up and the size is bigger with more ice but there's no toppings or flavour inside any more. Besides the typical toppings there's only 4 mochies sitting sparingly at the top of bowl. It's not as milky and because of so much ice it tastes very blank starting halfway, and felt the size is a bit too much for 2 people as dessert after dinner. So we are pretty disappointed about the quality this time and really wish they can bring the smaller size back.
Overall environment is cozy and warm, staffs are nice. Recommend coming here for the wide selection of shaved ice flavours, especially if you haven't had any Korean shaved ice you have to try it! But I don't see us returning as often if the quality stays at this level. I have to admit we are on the critical side but great food is what...
Read morethe cafe has a variety of treats and drinks that you wouldn't typically find in other cafes. it is the absolutely og bingsu shop of toronto/gta, and that's why i love it here :)
on this day we order a hot coffee and dalgona latte with an injeolmi toast to share. the injeolmi flavour lay rich on the warm milky toast, and the filling was incredibly chewy. the dalgona latte was quite sweet, but it was perfect for my sweet tooth. i was hestiant to try it at first, for i feared the drink would taste simply like sweet milk. i was taken by surprise when i took my first sip of the creamy latte with a hint of a caramel-like flavour. it was a fun drink to sip on whilst studying.
speaking of studying, the cafe has a nice, peaceful atmosphere and free wifi to be productive. the only thing is, there are little places to charge your electronics.
some other orders that i enjoyed include the green tea bingsu, brick toast, and crunch pop shake.
i hope i can come back soon! i'd love to try out their...
Read moreRecommended by a friend to come here for dessert so my friends and I decided to come here. The dessert café is near Yonge and Cummer. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived. They have a decent size space and it’s a self-served café. You go up to the counter and order your dessert. They have a decent selection of desserts but mainly shaved ice which they seemed to be known for here.
My friends and I came to a consensus on which flavour to order and it was the black sesame flavoured shaved ice. They offer 2 sizes: regular and large.
Was definitely surprised when they made the shaved ice so quickly. Definitely a work of art on how they make and prepare it. For a large, it’s quite big and it is shareable for sure. It was a pretty good and refreshing dessert on a humid evening. Overall, a pleasant dessert experience. Will definitely be back and try some of their other flavours...
