H3 Matrix — Restaurant in Toronto

Ordered a Hainan Chicken rice and Black Pepper Chicken Rice for takeout. No drinks or soup included. They are currently running a 10$ special for the Hainan chicken rice, but that does not include takeout. Which makes very little sense. If I dine, even with tax and a 20% tip, I would spend $13.50 for the Hainan Chicken Rice, and that would have drink and soup. Take-out, it's 14.50+tax, meaning $16.40 all in. So they are encouraging people to dine in, in order to earn less??? Makes no sense. The boss should include take-out for the specials.

In terms of food, hainan chicken, they forgot the sauces. Kinda important to have sauces, since the chicken is plainly cooked. Plus, chicken was a little over cooked. Chicken oil rice was good.

Black pepper sauce was very good. Chicken steak tender.

I don't know why I needed to pack my own take-out, though. The waiter just threw the boxes, bags, and cutlery in front of me, and walked away. I know I am not dining in, but you are still earning more with my takeout order than if I dined in and tipped, so at least out the takeout in the bag for me, please.

All considered....probably won't go back soon unless they make some change to policy...

Had a great dining experience at H3 Matrix! The restaurant has a sleek, modern design with a comfortable and lively atmosphere — perfect for casual gatherings, family meals, or just treating yourself.

The food came out impressively fast and every dish looked vibrant and appetizing. I highly recommend the Braised Beef Brisket with Tofu — the beef was tender, the tofu soaked up all the rich flavors, and it paired perfectly with rice. Their Stir-Fried Vermicelli captured that authentic hometown taste with a strong wok hei (smoky aroma). The Pickled Fish Soup was a pleasant surprise too — made with fresh live grouper, and the broth was rich, slightly thick, and full of umami.

The service was excellent — friendly and attentive staff, and everything was served quickly and efficiently.
