I’ve been a loyal customer of Hakka Flame for the past six years, and while the food here never disappoints (tandoori paneer noodles and veg Manchurian gravy are absolute must-haves), the dine-in experience has completely fallen apart, especially after the new ownership took over a few years ago. The restaurant feels like it’s stuck in time, with no maintenance or updates whatsoever. The ambiance is drab, and it’s clear that the staff has been cut down to only kitchen personnel, which results in a pretty miserable dining experience. It’s almost like they’ve given up on providing any service for those who choose to eat in. The place now feels neglected, and it’s evident that the management isn’t putting in the effort they used to. The final straw for me was my visit last night. My friend and I were in the middle of our meal when we discovered a pigeon right behind our table! Judging by the amount of pigeon poop in the corner, it seems like this bird might be a permanent resident. It was shocking, to say the least, and made the already disappointing atmosphere even worse. If you’re craving their delicious food, I highly recommend sticking to takeout. The food is still great, but avoid dining in unless you’re okay with dining alongside unexpected “tenants.”

I ate here for the first time today. I loved the Szechuan chicken. Just the right amount of spice. The service was excellent and you get what you pay for. Hakka Wow is.....wow! Update July 21, 2017. Wow another great meal. The General Tsao Paneer and Bombay Chicken....fantastic! The Chicken Pakoras were great too! Update Nov. 24, 2017. Just had another delicious dinner. Once again had my favorite General Tsao Paneer, just the right amount of spice and gravy. Decided to try the Vegetable Pakoras with spicy garlic gravy ( there's a few gravy flavours to choose from). This was an awesome choice! I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and the the amount of gravy was perfect To those concerned about the wait time if you're eating inside the restaurant; please bear in mind that this place is really popular for take out orders and delivery. When my roommate and I ordered our meal, I noticed about 8 orders being prepared for delivery. So please be patient if you order table service. Plus, the food is made fresh, it's not like fast food. If the food was made any faster, the quality would go down. Overall, I'm a very satisfied return customer. Keep up the great work!

If you're into people watching and eating this is a great spot to sit, you'll have to find a table at the front though. I had the tandoori chicken chow mein noodles which were very good, not too much chicken though it could've used a bit more. Nice big chunks of green onions which were really nice and the flavour was on point. The egg plant in spicy garlic sauce was also quite good. The eggplant was cooked very well, juicy and melt in your mouth! Also had the tofu in Szechuan sauce. Sauce was very good, tofu was like the stirfried and very tasty. They have this house made hot sauce which I recommend you ask for… be warned it's very garlicky! Very good though. I would've given it five stars if it weren't for the decor of the restaurant. All in all, the food was very good and not disappointed. I would definitely come again and recommend this to anybody if you're not sure what to have to eat. One thing though, it's not as spicy as most Hakka places. I was quite surprised to see how very little heat there was in the food.

I ordered 6 things for delivery: Dry Manchurian Veg Pakoras; Thai green curry veg; Manchurian eggplant; spicy garlic veg; veg lemon soup; mango salad.

It all arrived promptly and hot, but no cutlery, which is ok with me.

The spices on the dry veg Manchurian were excellent, but the more I ate, I realized these weren't pakoras -- they were wheat battered vegetables. Pakoras are made from chickpea flour. I called WOW, they were very nice and I explained that I wrote NO WHEAT in comment box. They told me there was no wheat in the batter. I asked what was in the batter then? I heard the guy ask the cook and finally reply, "it's wheat". Too bad since now I'll be ill and that was the best flavoured dish.

Thai green curry -- STAY AWAY! No curry paste, no basil, no galangal, no ginger, NO FLAVOUR except for gelatinous which counts as a flavour when excess and unnecessary cornstarch is used as was here. Plus, it was all carrots, celery, okra. Who wants those veggies to make up 100% of a curry? Couldn't eat it.

•Eggplant Manchurian -- SUPER BLAND. Manchurian is supposed to have chilli paste, onion, coriander. This was cornstarch thickened soy sauce. Ugh.

•Broccoli Mixed Veg Spicy Garlic -- NICE FLAVOUR, BUT ONLY 3 PIECES OF BROCCOLI. The rest was celery, carrot, baby corn and 4 snow peas.

•Veg Lemon Soup -- GROSS. it was pure cornstarch. I could have done arts and crafts with it. flavour ok, but not spicy as indicated. couldn't eat it. there was also something in it which anaesthetized my throat but I have no idea what it was.

I feel like crying after spending $60 so I haven't tried the mango salad yet.

I've been in India and had Hakka which was wonderful, with proper Manchurian. This was so sad, unless you want wheat balls in dry Manchurian called pakoras, cuz those were good here (if you can...

One of the worst Hakka Chinese food I have ever eaten! We went to this place before and had great food, some years back. As now the restrictions have been lifted, we visited the place almost after 2 years since we last visited. The quality of food has changed from great to worse, service has been poor. We were the only guests in the restaurant at that time when we ordered food at 8PM Monday evening. The food took time to be served on the table. We ordered for tandoori chicken moms and chicken 65 which were the only good items we found in our dinner that night. The Hakka veg chowmein/noodles, Bombay triple schezwan, as well as the chilly chicken were disastrous. The chicken chicken was too crispy to even bite inside a gravy dish! The noodles kept smelling like its been made of several times used oil, and the schewan was totally unexpected dish as a whole! We could not eat the noodles and the chilli chicken at all! The waitress could not understand anything, on complaining she did not even apologize or regret! All in all our gastronomic desires got marred as we returned home hungry! I would not recommend anyone to visit this place, instead try out other Hakka Chinese places which are much better! Lastly, the quality of food was also not at all good and we all had indigestion and stomach upset next...

My family and some family friends went there yesterday and the experience was horrible. From the service to the food everything was terrible. The lollipop chicken barely had any chicken in it! The quantity of the rest of the food was smaller than usual. We eat hakka a lot, both dine in and take out and the quantities are always ample enough. Whereas this place it was very small. The quality of food was not great. When we complained about the spice level, it was spicy they! they said it's their own style of hakka (whatever that is) btw we eat a lot of spice, we are brown lol. The food arrived at random. The chicken and beef came way before the rice and it just sat on the table and was getting cold. The service was confused and it looked they didn't know what they were doing. The kitchen is the one to blame. They do not know how to process the order and sent out food at random. We spent $150 there and we tipped the server because he was trying his best in a very confused environment. Anyway I'm not the one to write reviews a lot unless it's good but the experience here was just horrible. I should've listened to others that said their experience was very unpleasant but it was at the last moment, so had no other choice. Note to self "never make last minute decisions on food". It was just...
