Not on the top of my recommendation list to visit for Toronto (I lived there for about 2 years). Some of the restaurants are really terrific others your playing a game of chance with sickness.
The bars in the area are sketchy and I would avoid. Occasionally homeless people can be seen publicly using crack cocaine or opiates.
It’s a hard working generally immigrant community and it’s a bit out of the way of down town. I would say you can definitely get comparable quality Indian food in downtown Toronto and you wouldn’t be playing a game of chance with food poisoning, albeit it might be more costly.

It is now just a relic of past when new comers from Indian subcontinent (Read India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) had setup ethnic shops & food joints decades ago- that's how it took its name.
