⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would give 50 Stars if I could for the most amazing experience we had with Udipi Place. Mr Hubert D’Mello, the owner is an incredible human being and I was floored by his service, attitude and food. His restaurant has been in Toronto over 20 years and the food and service has always been impeccable. Living downtown I often frequented. For my daughters wedding reception on the 17th of September 2022 we catered, a Live Dosa Station and other dishes from this humble yet iconic authentic South Indian restaurant. From planing the menu, to the food tasting and pleasing all our food preferences & demands, Mr Hubert showed immense patience and understanding, even prepared a few dishes which were not on his menu to accommodate our Vegan dietary requirements. Our venue required fire insurance and a small 10 pound propane tank, which Mr Hubert easily accommodated, without charging us any extra. ( he went and bought a new propane tank just for my event, amazing service👏🏻) The day of the event went flawlessly with the arrival of Mr Hubert’s team who set up the the live Dosa grill and food. We had 8 varieties of Dosas 😍 all vegan and gluten and nut free. Samosas and Dal Vada ( specifically made at my daughters request) as starters. The tangy and spicy Rasam soup along with Bisibele Bhath. For dessert their Chef specially made Moong Dal payasam which was sinfully delicious and yes Vegan 🙌🏻 We had a melange of guests from all corners of the world, each of whom found the food incredibly delicious. More so, nothing was left over from the buffet. The food was perfect for all age groups as the dosas were made in the spot individually on requests of each guests. People landed up having more than a couple of dosas each, which shows how good the food was. I had catered for 55 people but we had 60 turn up and yet the generous portions brought by Hubert and his incredible team sufficed. I’m so grateful to have catered from Udipi Place as it left my guests satiated and happy. Honestly when one hosts a big event, seldom people don’t give too much importance to the food( my observation attending many events ) for me I believe food is the way to peoples heart and when it’s served with so much love and care it’s outshines everything. We all were blown away by the service beyond expectations by Hubert and Udipi Place. Thank you so much for making our Big Day...

My husband & I have been regular visitors at the Udupi Palace at Gerrard st, since many years now & I want to express my love for this restaurant.

We travel all the way to Udupi palace very often just to enjoy their brilliant Indian cuisines. The ambience & the music at the restaurant feels like home & their Indian cuisines are to die for.

We have visited many Indian restaurants in Toronto but none as good as Udupi Palace.

Their thali concept is our favourite & their sweet delicacies are what keeps bringing us back everytime. They pay absolute attention to each table they serve & their attention to detail is applaudworthy.

They are very innovative as a business & come up with new recipes and share them with us everytime we come in & the new recipes ( the eggplant side dish) were a hit & the mango pickle was fingerlicking good. We always try a variety of different Indian recipes at this place & each & every dish tastes so good and I can truly feel their kitchen staff cooks every dish with passion, precision & love❤️

The tall gentleman with glasses at the FOH & Alvin are always so polite, humble, kind & so welcoming.

This place deserves a 5 star for the love & the passion with which they serve each client & I wish them all the best in all their future endeavours.

Looking forward eagerly for my next delicious lunch date with my husband at the Udupi Palace☺️❤️

Best place to have delicious Indian cuisines. They are affordably priced, incredibly delicious food & feels like home & I must say they take good care of their clients.

Thank you so much for such a pleasant experience...

Update: the owners responded to my email and did us a solid of providing a huge, non-spicy meal on the house. They also informed us that in fact near everything on the menu is at least MODERATELY hot as they use a veg base including chilies in the majority of the dishes. However, ordering in advance allows them to customize most things too so if you cannot eat hot foods, this is an option. What we got was admittedly a bit bland, but what do you expect when you remove a core ingredient from a cuisine? 4 stars for food but 5 stars for service.

Good if you know what things are/don’t have dietary restrictions, and have a spice tolerance on par with south asians. Fitting neither bill didn’t make for the best experience. We ordered multiple of the same dish (set) and asked one be the gluten free and vegan option; was told we could get more food if they did them all the same and packed them together, though this cost the other orders their desserts which we weren’t told. It was not clear what did and didn’t contain gluten. Also inquired about whether the items were spicy (ie. used chilies) and was told only the soup was, which led to one soup being omitted (not by request). In the end five of six items were quite spicy for someone who can not tolerate much heat at all...so by that logic we should’ve only got one dish! We also were charged full price for this. Sad how it’s turned out after wanting to try this restaurant for...

I had my first tiffin experience in Toronto with Udupi Palace after discovering them on Instagram, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the well-known name, the meals are very reasonably priced. Initially, I decided to try it out for a week before committing to a monthly plan. Deepak was extremely helpful and walked me through the meal components. He even offered to customize the portions, I opted to skip one item, and he increased the quantity of another to balance it out, which was very thoughtful. As someone from North India, I was a bit hesitant at first, thinking the taste might be too South Indian for my palate. But to my surprise, the food has a balanced flavor that can appeal to all Indian tastes. The meals are fresh, hygienic, and wholesome perfect for someone living alone in Canada. What really stands out is the customer service. Deepak checks in regularly for feedback and genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. Overall, a 10/10 experience — highly recommended.

Great vegetarian and vegan food from the southern part of India. Their curries are especially authentic and have a great rate of coconut with mild spices. The amalgamation of spices and flavours is nearly perfect , rendering amazing taste to the dishes they serve. It’s just the idlis, which are a kind of steamed spongy puffs, that are a bit stiff and not soft and spongy they should be. Their dosas, type of crispy crepes served with potato filling are quite delicious and crisp. The chutneys are good too. The mango lassi is quite a popular drink, although I have not tried it, but have seen it being served on literally every table. They serve with their heart and that’s what makes dining their a special delight. Mr. Manish is always around , smiling and more than enthusiastic to serve his guests, special thanks to him for all the good food he serves, with immense pleasure and care. His attention to the needs of his clients is quite apparent. Highly recommend the place when in the area.

Whenever at Gerrard, Indian town can’t skip or miss eating at Udupi’s. As usual ordered the Masala Dosa and a Salty Lassi. The potatoes inside the Dosa were delicious however found the Dosa missing the fermentation taste, soft and not as crispy! Voiced my concern and bingo they brought me a perfect crispy dosa! The Lassi was ok, nothing special but it was a good drink for a hot day! My hubby ordered the Spicy Vegetable Curry (#71 on menu) with a Tandoori Naan. It was ever delicious, so good that my husband ordered a 2nd to bring home for dinner! Ended it with a strong cup of chai, made perfectly, relaxing and refreshing. What we appreciated most was that the Head Chef came over to apologize for the delay in my hubby’s order. All other staff were very friendly, nor did they mind the comment on Masala Dosa (the xtra crispy dosa was on the house) A great memorable Saturday, Gerrad brings back beautiful memories of home, India🇮🇳
