Me, my wife and her sister came for lunch and we are all very happy we did. This place has lots of seating and there are many tables that can accommodate wheelchair or other mobility device. Very nice and bright interior, with big windows that let lots of natural light in.
The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. They were very quick to make sure your order was taken and that if you needed anything, it was taken care of.
The food....... Was amazing! One of the best fish and chips I have had in a very long time. The batter on the decent size piece of halibut was perfect.... Not too thick or too thin, just in that perfect spot. Fish was flaky and moist, a fantastic cut of halibut. All 3 had the same fish and the consistency of all three were exactly the same. It is so nice to see a place actually be consistent across multiple dishes.
The chips (fries) were exactly what I was hoping they'd be, fresh cut and cooked to perfection. They had a nice crunch to them but we're nice and fluffy inside. My wife had a poutine and she loved the gravy.... Only downside.... The cheese was not cheese curds, but she still very much enjoyed them.
The coleslaw was great, a real eye opener. My wife and her sister both really enjoyed it. They said it was some of the best they have ever had. My sister in law finished the coleslaw first, she enjoyed it that much. I had a garden salad and I was very happy with it. You would be amazed how many restaurants mess up a simple salad, but the place is not one of them. Perfect balance of lettuce and toppings and with just the right amount of dressing.
If you live in the area of this place, I am very jealous of you. I would be here at least twice a week if I could. If you don't, you can get to it very easily, as it is not far from the TTC's Victoria Park Subway Station. The food was top notch and the service was great. If you are in the mood for great fish and chips, this is the place to go. My wife and I will...
Read moreIf I was able to give a no star opinion I would.. I have ordered from here multiple times and the staff has always been very nice and welcoming. The last time I went and will never go again the staff was clueless and not very nice. I go to order takeout Halibut and poutine. I ask for extra cheese and gravy because you don't put a lot on in the first place but if she could layer it and she was confused and said we don't know how to do that so I explained half of the fries, then cheese, gravy and then fries, cheese and gravy so the cheese and gravy was spread out throughout the fries. The girl then replied and said oh we don't do that.. I thought it was about the customer and what they want? If I'm paying for extra cheese and gravy and if I'm paying close to $20 for my food I want it how I like it.. so since the girl was rude I didn't order anything and I left.. after saying it's fine I'm not going to order anything all she said was "okay" no "sorry" or okay we can try and make it, nothing.. very disappointment, it's not rocket science especially when I litterally told her...
Read moreThis is my second visit, finally giving a review. For both visits, i was quite disappointed. Their seafood is cooked very nicely: the shrimp, halibut, cod, scallops (probably also others I haven't mentioned). But the flaw in the dishes is the fried food.
Everything is really greasy, and the more you eat of it, the more you'll taste the grease and become difficult to eat.
The fries are cooked too well that they become really tough to eat once they go stale.
In terms of guest service, there is no person at the front to seat the customers. The customers, such as I, wondered if I should seat myself or not. Please don't seat yourself, lol, it's not a fast food chain. For waiting service, the workers are very friendly, although many of them do have difficulty enunciating things, so bare with them. But they are very good.
Food delivery is really quick. I got my food within 5-7 minutes of ordering.
The place is very clean, somewhat spacious. The kitchen is wide open to the restaurant, and can be seen from the front on...
