Friday, October 25, 2024 Evening (Dinner)
I was excited to experience a new, proudly Kurdish, restaurant. There appeared to be dine in seating, of up to 22 people. Kurmanji songs, playing in the background. Clean, vibrant, and well lit ambiance.
My friend and I ordered head and foot soup (Kelle Paça), beef döner plate, beef döner lahmacun wrap, lahmacun, and Kurdish sushi.
Head and Foot Soup (Kelle Paça): I've had this dish at Iranian restaurants, and never enjoyed them. I longed for the taste, how the Kurds make it. It was delicious. The right portion of salt, meat, and broth. Pairs well with nana sele (bread). The aroma is inviting, while each spoonful wraps you in warmth, making it the perfect companion for chilly days.
Beef Donër Plate: Nothing unique. It was okay. I've spoiled myself, by having donër in Germany, that is considered even better, than in Kurdistan.
Beef Donër Lahmacun: You won't find this on the menu. This is a custom order, I like to have, to see how the two work together. Fortunately, it was nearly perfect. Thin lahmacun is the ideal way to go, and topped with Beef Donër, makes it a satiating bite. Would've enjoyed it more, if it had a bit more tomato paste to it.
Lahmacun: Thin, crispy, and light. That's the way it's meant to be prepared. Only a small amount of the juices drip, which indicate the right portions used, of the ingrediants.
Kurdish Sushi: This was my first time, trying this dish. I had heard it mentioned on several occassions, and it did not disappoint. The crunchiness of the lettuce, carrot and the sauce for a gentle touch, made it delightful.
Update: Friday December 14, 2024 (Dinner)
Had the Iskender Kebab for the first time here. It was surprisingly, delicious. I've had it at several other restaurants, and none tasted as good as this. This is my personal opinion. I really enjoyed the taste of the tomato sauce, yogurt, and of course, the charred, mild ripened tomato, and hot pepper. This is specifically a Kurdish tradition, and a very popular way of enjoying said vegetables, and others, such as eggplant, onion,...

The kelle paça soup was by far the best I’ve ever had, served hot and full of authentic flavor. The mumbar was extraordinary, prepared with such care that every bite was delicious, and the stuffed grape leaves with meat were simply unforgettable. Honestly, every single dish we tried was prepared to perfection, and even the drinks complemented the meals beautifully.
What makes this place even more special is that it’s not just about the food – it’s about the whole experience. It’s rare to find a restaurant that captures the soul of Kurdish cuisine this well, with dishes that feel both authentic and comforting. It reminded me of home-cooked meals, full of warmth and tradition.
